Our mission is to provide quality, in-home service that will allow seniors to live comfortably and independently in the familiarity of their own home.About the PositionThe Legal Counsel performs a range of duties including evaluating all current and new compliance regulations to ensure compliance with the Illinois Department on Aging, reviewing company processes across departments, evaluating contracts with Managed Care Organizations. This position reports to the Chief Compliance Officer.ResponsibilitiesContract Drafting and Review: Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts, including transportation agreements, vendor contracts, and other legal documents to protect the company's interestsRisk Assessment: Identify legal risks associated with our business operations and develop strategies to mitigate these risksDispute Resolution: Handle legal disputes and litigation matters, working with Chief Compliance Officer when necessary, to protect the company's interests and resolve issues efficientlyCompliance Training: Develop and conduct training programs for employees to ensure awareness and compliance with relevant legal requirementsGeneral Legal Support: Provide legal advice and support on a wide range of legal issues as they arise in the course of business operationsPerform periodic audits on company procedures and processes.Follow all IDoA and AUAF policies and proceduresOther duties as assignedQualificationsRequiredBachelor's Degree in law, business administration, or a related fieldJuris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law schoolA minimum of 3 years' experience as a compliance officer, Legal Counsel, or similar position.Strong knowledge of industry processes and regulations.Authorized to work in the United StatesPass state required background checksPreferredSpeaks a second languageRequired SkillsCritical thinking and problem-solving abilities that adapt to a variety of situationsOutstanding organizational skills and attention to detailProficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)Exceptional communication and interpersonal skillsExcellent customer serviceSuperior organization and time managementBenefitsHealth, Vision, and Dental Insurance401(k)Paid Time Off (PTO)Paid HolidaysEEO StatementAUAF is an equal opportunity employer.
