As part of NLCP's college readiness academic model teachers will have the opportunity to teach across the spectrum of their expertise and be supported in creating differentiated learning experiences in their classrooms. In addition to core instructional minutes teachers will engage in special topic seminar instruction, allowing creativity in instruction and adding to the breadth of content exposure that scholars receive. Teachers will participate in continuous professional learning as well as hold stakeholdership in departmental planning, which involves steering the direction of subject curriculum management.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities in compliance with state and federal laws and regulationsModify and adapt general education curriculum and materials to meet the needs of students with special needsProvide ongoing coaching support for differentiated instruction to staff interfacing with diverse learners in general education classroom settings as well as accommodations and modificationsDeliver instruction in a variety of differentiated formats and modalities to accommodate diverse learning needs and stylesCommunicate regularly with families and other stakeholders to provide updates on student progress, discuss concerns, and seek input on student needsFrequently collaborate with members of the school based behavioral health team to provide a comprehensive support system for diverse learners and ensure fidelity to IEP plans.Education RequirementsBachelor's degree in education, youth development, or relevant field required, masters preferredValid Illinois Professional Educator's License (or out-of-state equivalent preferred)Experience RequirementPassion to improve the minds and lives of students in and out of the classroomProven track-record of high achievement in the classroomMastery of and enthusiasm for academic subjectDesired Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesMaintains a strengths-based approach, practicing boundless compassion for scholars and staffRelentless in pursuit of student growthDedication to betterment of one's own skill and craftGrounded in community and the importance of healthy, safe, and transformative relationshipsPassion about Urban Education and equitable educational outcomesKnowledge of Chicago Public Schools enrollment and transfer policiesDemonstrated involvement with restorative practices including experience facilitating talking and peace circlesAbility to work independently, multi-task, and problem solveAbility to maintain a warm customer focused demeanorExperience working with youth and/or in a school settingStrong facilitation and conflict resolution skillsKnowledge of restorative justice principles and practicesStrong communication and interpersonal skillsWork Schedule:Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4 PMAs a condition of employment with North Lawndale College Prep, candidates must be authorized to work in the US.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
