JOB DESCRIPTION:We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Business Systems Analyst to join our Technology team. This role will serve as a strategic partner to our business lines, ensuring systems and processes enable seamless roadmap execution by bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions. This Business Systems Analyst will be responsible for understanding business requirements, designing and implementing application configuration, and ensuring alignment of technical solutions with strategic business objectives. Along with the key functions listed below, this position will be expected to uphold the value that Washington Federal places on simply being kind when working alongside colleagues and servicing our clients.Successful Business Systems Analyst must:o Lead by example.o Develop productive relationships with business and technical leaders across the organization. o Reflect our corporate values and ethics, including integrity, teamwork, ownership, simplicity, discipline, service, and kindness. o Assist the manager in optimizing operational effectiveness, productivity, and efficiency.o Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by delivering excellent service.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned):Collaboration & Communication:• Act as a technical liaison between IT, business units, and external partners to ensure alignment with organizational goals.• Understand, analyze, and improve business processes. • Work to align technology solutions with business strategies and objectives, across multiple systems or departments• Work with stakeholders to facilitate and drive the discovery process for gathering detailed business requirements and map out end-to-end processes. • Translate the business requirements into functional configurations and/or user stories. • Analyze current workflows, perform gap analyses, and create process documentation and recommendations for process improvements.• Lead meetings as scrum master for smaller projects outside of the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) scope. Application Design, Development & Support:• Collaborate on high-level system design with system engineers, developers, and other IT teams. • Perform basic configurations and optimize banking applications, including core banking systems, deposit platforms, loan processing platforms, document management platforms, file transmission, ITSM platforms and payment gateways to meet client specifications.• Participate in application installations, upgrades, and integrations.• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues, perform root-cause analysis, and provide timely resolutions.• Analyze customer feedback and transaction data to identify opportunities for improved functionality.Training & Documentation:• Create and maintain comprehensive procedural documentation, user guides, and support materials.• Train end-users and internal teams on new applications and systems upgrades.Deliver Exceptional Service: • Know the company's technology, financial products, regulatory climate, and functionality needs and use them to support business units in improving their products and services. • Maintain knowledge of Bank systems and processes to help with technical needs, projects, and audits. • Model integrity and professionalism, including personal appearance and conduct, banking industry knowledge, customer service and interpersonal skills, and value or needs-based selling techniques.• Ensure integrated, cross-departmental requirements planning for products, compliance, information, and functionality across departments efficiently to minimize the impact on business stakeholders.• Maintain relationships across the Company and develop a basic working knowledge of functional roles to support problem resolution and quality service delivery.Protect the Bank's Interests: • Manage daily operations, monitor applications' health, escalate/resolve issues, and ensure assigned work (i.e., general support, project, or product team) is completed promptly.• Utilize Agile methodology to track, monitor, and prioritize assigned work. • Complete and pass all assigned eLearning courses.• Adherence to bank policies and procedures designed to comply with Federal regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act and OFAC regulations. • Avoid real or perceived conflicts of interest and maintain client privacy and confidentiality.• Train and support the team with product, technology, and operational knowledge.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Skills/Training:• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.• Proven experience as a Business Systems Analyst, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.• Knowledge in programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#) and database management (SQL, Oracle).• Familiarity with APIs, middleware, and system integration in a financial context.• Understanding of banking regulations and compliance requirements.• Familiar with cloud-based banking solutions and platforms• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.• Ability to share knowledge with colleagues.• Ability to solve problems, handle complex and confidential information, and work cross-functionally. • Knowledge of bank systems, including operating and network systems, with a strong desire to learn more about these systems and other technologies.• Analytical skills to critically evaluate the information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, and decompose high-level information into details.• Listening skills, understanding what people say, probing when appropriate, and helping them articulate their needs.• Must be team-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.Physical Requirements:• Light intermittent physical effort. • Sit or stand for long periods.• Frequently transition from seated to upright positions.• Make repetitive hand and wrist movements.• Use vision for close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception and using a computer monitor.• Communicate verbally, over the phone, and via video chat.• Occasionally reach, move objects above the head or below the waist, and lift/carry objects up to 20 lbs.• Occasionally stoop, crouch, bend, or kneel.Working Conditions:• Typical office conditions.• Adept at using a smartphone to monitor activities while outside the office. • Travel may be required. • Work in office, schedule directed by manager.Contacts and Relationships:o Supervisory Relationships: Reports directly to and works under the supervision of the Applications Service Manager.o Organizational Relationships: Daily contact with bank staff; develops relationships with Information Technology staff and works closely with Department Heads and Senior Management, as needed.o External Relationships: Occasional contact with third-party vendors.
