About the role We're hiring an optical physicist to lead our research on the characterization and application of a novel method for generating multiphoton fluorescence. As our first full-time scientific hire, you will have a high degree of ownership over the company research agenda. In this role you will:Continue optimization of our technology e.g. testing new fluorescent indicators, implementing approaches to decrease power levels, testing different light sources Test and characterize novel applications of our technology e.g. lithography, diagnostics, opsinsRun characterization experiments on various models studying variables like photobleaching, power levels, pulse width, and fluorescence levels Collaborate with biologists, chemists, and protein engineers on the development and testing of novel indicatorsPrototype microscopes in collaboration with our optomechanical engineer Author technical documentation and scientific publicationsPropose additional applications Perform spectroscopy experiments on fluorescent proteinsKey qualifications PhD in experimental optical physics or equivalent experience Demonstrated track record of building high precision hardwareExperience with imaging biological systems "” fluorescence microscopy preferred, ideally multiphoton microscopy Preferred qualifications 2+ years of a postdoc or industry experience Proficient with Zemax softwareSalary/Pay Range $150,000-$180,000 annual salary, equity, and benefitsApply on LinkedIn or email with a cover letter and CV.
