National Airlines specializes in over-sized, time sensitive, and special handling requirements, utilizing 757-200, 747-400 and A-330 aircraft to accomplish its missions.Job Title: Maintenance ControllerLocationOrlando, FLDepartment: Maintenance ControlReports To: Manager of Maintenance Control FLSA Status: ExemptDuties, Responsibilities, and Authority:Coordinates with Flight Operations and Quality Control to resolve whether an inoperative item on aircraft can be deferred, allowing the aircraft to continue to its destination. Advises Operations Control regarding aircraft status. Responds via phone to requests for information in a clear and understandable mannerSupervises, directs, and works with Company and contract maintenance personnel in troubleshooting aircraft and systems ensuring airworthiness in accordance with Company Maintenance manuals and procedures. Assists flight crews with troubleshooting of problems. Duties of the Maintenance Controllers include but are not limited to the following:Retrieves information from and refers to Aircraft Manuals, Company Manuals and other approved resources in order to Troubleshoot, repair, identify parts and obtain part numbersProvides repair history information to Maintenance personnelCoordinates the procurement of parts related to inoperative items. Coordinates with the AOG Purchaser on dutyCoordinates the procurement and allocation of special tooling for the line stations to repair or test inoperative itemsCoordinates with Maintenance ensuring Mechanics are available to perform repairs, including contract personnel. Coordinates with Flight Control as needed in order to send Mechanics with aircraft to perform repairsProvides current aircraft status and schedules based on reports from Maintenance, Quality Control, and flight crewReviews aircraft logs and recommends repair priorities to Maintenance DepartmentWorks with other airline personnel involved with contract maintenance of Company aircraftEnsures MEL/CDL procedures are adhered toReviews and keeps the Maintenance Controller Log up to date and accurateProvides technical assistance in support of maintenance operationsReviews all aircraft discrepancies. Identify repetitive items and ensure that a plan is organized and implemented to troubleshoot and repairs repetitive items in a timely manner. Coordinates all activity with department headsReviews all aircraft discrepancies and delays for possible MISR/SDR reportable items. Follows procedures for MISR/SDR data collectionMonitors all delays and follow delay report proceduresPerforms other related duties as assignedQualifications & Experience:Must possess a valid FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) ratingHave at least three years maintenance experience on different types of large airplanes with an air carrierHave completed all initial and recurrent training required to ensure that they are qualified to perform their dutiesKnowledge, Skills Abilities:Ability to use technical manuals, good mechanical aptitude and solve problems effectively.Ability to stay focused and work under pressure.Previous leadership experienceExcellent written and verbal communication skillsOrganized self-directed individual who is a team player with strong work ethics.Must be able to prioritize effectively. Strong analytical skills Must be punctual and Reliable.Certificates/Licenses: Airframe and Power plant CertificateFederal Communications Commission license, preferred.Physical Demands:Extended periods at workstation, using a keyboard, viewing a computer screen, and communicating by telephone and in person.Work Environment:Outside, and Office settingsWork shift varies.Travel/Other Requirements:Must be able to travel for maintenance training and/or aircraft familiarization.The duties listed above are intended only as illustrations of various types of work that may be performed.
