Position: Mechatronics Technician (HVAC) or Controls Engineering TechnicianLocation: Waukegan, IL 60087 onsiteDuration: Long term contract 12 - 24+ months to foreverPay range $45.00 - $60.00 per hourThe HVAC Controls Engineering Technician will play a hands-on role in troubleshooting and maintaining the HVAC and utility control systems within a facility. This position is split 50/50 between troubleshooting existing systems and supporting facility infrastructure upgrades and capital projects.Overview of responsibilitiesDiagnosing and resolving issues with HVAC control systems, alarms, and utilities.Hands-on troubleshooting of pneumatic actuators, steam systems, and HVAC alarms to ensure operational reliability.Responding to system failures and implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime.Supporting HVAC control unit and steam system upgrades, ensuring proper installation and integration.Assisting with facility infrastructure improvements, including utilities and HVAC.Collaborating with project teams to enhance system performance and reliability.Providing technical support for control system modifications and commissioning activities.Performing routine preventive maintenance on HVAC and utility systems.Working directly in the field to troubleshoot and resolve control system issues (not just reviewing drawings).Ensuring compliance with industry standards and facility safety regulations.Documenting troubleshooting processes, system upgrades, and modifications for future reference.QUALIFICATIONS: Hands-on experience with HVAC control systems and pneumatic actuators is a MUST.Must understand Ladder logic.Strong technical expertise in HVAC utilities, control units, and steam systems.Experience troubleshooting and maintaining HVAC alarms and automation components.Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and control system sequences.Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to system optimization.Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineering teams, technicians, and facility staff.About us...Sterling Engineering...we offer FULL BENEFITS!
