Associate Attorney, Tax Controversy

We are looking for an experienced Associate Attorney to join our Tax Controversy Department. The ideal candidate is a team player with at least 3 years experience in tax or controversy fields. In addition, they should be able to:Represent clients before the IRS and other tax authorities to enter into payment plans, negotiate balances (Offer in Compromise), and address compliance issuesAdvocate on behalf of clients in federal and state tax audits (income, sales tax, and other audits)Research, address, and consult with clients on IRS practice and procedural issues including tax assessment and collections, penalty and interest assessments, statutes of limitation for refunds and assessmentsDraft written communications to taxing authoritiesWork on the IRS account issues for individual and business clients, and entity issues such as classification correctionsWork with other law firm practice groups on issues that intersect with tax issues such as corporate taxation and crypto currency taxParticipate in firm trainingAbility to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced and collaborative environmentAdvise and counsel corporate and individual clients on tax issues, including crypto taxBasic Qualifications:J.D., Licensed in IllinoisExperience handling federal and state tax issues involving individuals and business entitiesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong research and writing skillsAbility to explain complex tax issues to non-tax professionals or clientsAbility to handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyExperience prioritizing assignments, meeting deadlines, demonstrating initiative and providing sound legal judgmentPreferred Qualifications:3 years of experience in tax law is preferredKnowledge of legal and tax issues to crypto currency is a plusExperience with IRS and Illinois tax payment plans, negotiations, audits, and handling tax disputesExperience in Tax Court and District CourtGordon Law has an excellent reputation for integrity and high-quality work, combined with a collaborative, no-politics working environment that is professional, supportive and enjoyable.
