LEARN D.C. Manager of Recruitment & Community EngagementLEARN DC is seeking an entrepreneurial Manager of Recruitment & Community Engagement with a passion for making families feel the warmth and welcome that defines a LEARN school. LEARN is an innovative network of tuition-free, high performing college preparatory public elementary schools that was selected by local parents to open a new DC Campus adjacent to Joint Base Anacostia Bolling (JBAB) in the Ward 8 community.LEARN Charter School Network (LEARN) opened its doors as a charter school in 2001 with the mission to provide children with the academic foundation and ambition to earn a college degree. Our 20 year commitment to providing underserved communities with a high-quality, college prep elementary education is unwavering. LEARN currently serves 4,100 students (88% of which are low-income and 98% minority) across 11 campuses with 10 in Illinois and 1 in D.C.As the LEARN D.C. Manager of Recruitment & Community Engagement, in a typical day you can expect to have a scope of responsibilities that could include:Attending community events to raise awareness of LEARN DC's mission and core values.Hosting parent information student recruitment sessions in person or virtually in partnership with faith based groups, community groups, military Child Youth Services (CYP), or community partners including PAVE.Organizing and executing door-to-door community outreach (field marketing) to promote our school.Updating a shared database through the development of strong relationships with key external partners from both the military and Anacostia communitiesWorking closely with the Network Student Recruitment Team and D.C. Principal to develop a comprehensive digital marketing and field marketing plan to recruit new students, including coordinating tours of the school, open houses, and other activities for prospective students and their parents.Adhering to the enrollment process according to established policies and procedures at LEARN.Supporting LEARN D.C. staff in the collection and processing of prospective student applications through the My School DC application process.Working closely with AppleTree partner to create opportunities for Ward 8 and on-base families to connect.A description of you:Able to market ideas or services to others to influence them to "˜buy' via multiple sources such as in person, in print and/or via social media connectionsExceptional communication skills, comfortable initiating conversations with new and known people to learn about them and encourage them to take actions towards joining LEARN.The ability to communicate and work effectively with children, families, professionals and other personnel from a wide range of cultural, social and economic backgroundsIntimate knowledge of the Washington, D.C. region with proven networks and connections to resources particularly in the wards in closer proximity to the school.Understanding of the military community and/or a strong desire to support this communityUnderstanding of the charter sector and a passion for education choiceAbility to work independently with very minimal administrative oversight and supportProfessional demeanor and ability to hold information in strict confidenceDetail oriented and highly organizedHigh degree of initiative and independent judgmentWorking knowledge of using MS Office or Google applications to develop, track and report on recruitment and placement activities to Network teams.Expected Accomplishments:Meet student enrollment goals to fuel growth of the schoolProvide support for LEARN DC staff recruitment effortsBuild strong relationships between key community leaders and LEARN DCCreate a high level of awareness of LEARN DCAssure a strong and positive working relationship with LEARN parentsREQUIRED COMPETENCIES:Candidates for this position will have a Bachelor's degree, preferably in a social science, humanities or similar concentration, and a minimum of 3+ years of prior community engagement experience in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial work environment.
