Process and HVAC Piping EstimatorPrimary Purpose:Responsible for preparing and/or coordinating the preparation of full estimates on large and complex projects as required by client's documents and providing complete conceptual and total bid price.Principal Duties and Accountabilities:Reviewing and evaluating RFQs, RFPs and Bid DocumentsDeveloping RFIs for inconsistencies and missing information in the contract documentsEnsuring timely completion of estimatesReviewing estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracyDevelop pertinent clarifications and exclusionsReviewing construction documents and understanding scope of work to bidExecuting Quick-pen take-offs of construction documentsObtaining pricing for materialsObtaining bids and verifying scope from subcontractorsPreparing cost analysis in computer by recapitulating material, labor, equipment, subcontractor and other direct costs incurred for the installation of itemsMaking an estimate where predetermined standard(s) are not availableInforming immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted item or computer databaseUpdate computer database labor and materialsDeveloping and maintain resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.Attending departmental meetings as requiredPrint documents and plansDevelop relationships with vendors and subcontractorsProject turnover manualsSkills & Requirements:Being a team player8 - 10 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and expertiseAbility to read and interpret documents such as bid front ends, scopes of work, blueprints, safety programs, QA/QC manualsSpeak effectively before groups of clients or employeesKnowledge of Quick-pen software (or similar estimating systems) is strongly encouragedExperience with estimating techniques and cost controlAbility to perform detailed labor and material take-offsKey Performance Indicators:Accurate bid quotations and thorough estimatesKey relationships built with subcontractors and vendorsTeambuilding within the department and other business unitsEstimated cost vs. actual cost
