ABOUT THE FIRMWood Litigation is a small civil litigation firm in downtown San Francisco. The firm specializes in the areas of real estate, employment and commercial litigation. The firm's clients include:Developers, homebuyers, home sellers and property owners;Employers and departing employees in trade secret and compensation disputes;Employers faced with wage, hour and misclassification claims;Business owners in partnership/shareholder and commercial/contract disputes;CPA firms alleged to have negligently performed tax, audit or bookkeeping services with an emphasis in defending firms alleged to have failed to identify embezzlement; andTech founders and engineers.THE OPEN POSITIONThe firm is looking to hire a litigation secretary / practice assistant to work full-time (or heavy part-time) to perform the following tasks:Filing and service of court documents in state (and less so, federal) courts throughout the Bay Area;Preparing pleadings, motions and discovery shells/templates;Filling out court forms;Proofreading documents in advance of filing/service;Preparing and maintaining proofs of service;Arranging for service of documents by overnight mail and/or through messengers/process servers;Processing documents received and calendaring deadlines;Drafting and sending correspondence, letters, and email;Communicating with court staff, clients, witnesses;Responding to phone messages and interviewing potential new clients;.Onboarding new clients;Managing documents;Using the firm's ediscovery software to receive and produce documents;Maintaining the office, i.e. ordering supplies, arranging for building maintenance. This is an in-office position in downtown San Francisco. There is some flexibility with regard to the schedule.QUALIFICATIONSThe ideal candidate has been serving as a civil litigation secretary / practice assistant doing many of the above tasks for five years.
