AboutIntrepid College Prep is a network of free, college preparatory public charter schools located in the Antioch area of Greater Nashville, Tennessee. They educate scholars at two campuses: Opportunity Academy Middle School and Independence Academy High School. Their 5-12 model ensures that scholars have the opportunity to engage in a rigorous, college-preparatory education for eight years prior to their transition to college and the professional opportunities that follow. The Dean of Operations will be responsible for all matters of school administration that do not directly relate to instruction or student behavior. The Dean of Operations is a cornerstone of the Intrepid school model, which seeks to relieve the principal of non-instructional obligations so that they can focus almost exclusively on student achievement and the professional development of the teaching staff. This position will take on a variety of operational responsibilities from overseeing the development and implementation of the school budget to gathering and analyzing school data to ensuring that the school has sufficient materials to serve its students. The Deans of Operations will also supervise a team of operations professionals. Responsibilities of the Dean of Operations may include but are not limited to:Budget & FinanceWork with the school principal and network finance staff to develop and manage the school's budgetMaintain accurate records of all financial transactions and submit them to the network finance staff for processingParticipate in monthly meetings to review/account for budget variances; monitor usage of the school credit cardEnsure adherence to school's fiscal policy and procedures; participate in annual financial audit process by providing documentation as needed to auditorsManage school purchasing process by placing orders with vendors, tracking delivery and maintaining inventorySchool OperationsEach year, prepare the campus for start-up/new school year by ordering furniture, equipment, and classroom supplies as well as ensuring that school services (i.e., student food services, student transportation services) are lined up and ready for actionProcess new hires and maintain employee records to prepare the facility for occupationManage the tracking and follow up regarding teacher certification and employee benefitsWith the support of other colleagues, ensure compliance with all state, federal, and local employment laws and policiesEnsure the maintenance of campus facilities by managing custodial personnel and third party contracts for trash removal, recycling, and securityManage the school's food and transportation services by coordinating with service providers and overseeing deliveriesManage the school's supply and asset inventorySchool AdministrationEnsure the timely implementation of all items on Intrepid College Prep's administrative cadencesEnsure that the school is adhering to all local compliance and reporting requirements, per calendars and guidelines Provide oversight of the planning and execution of school special events, such as field lessons, Report Card Night, and graduationOversee the administration of all student testsDisseminate progress reports to school staff and ensure the timely production of student report cardsEnsure that student records are properly maintained and updated at the schoolManagement and LeadershipDirectly supervise operations staff, as applicableActively serve on the school's leadership teamSkills and CharacteristicsBelief in the Intrepid College Prep mission and educational modelComfort level with financial oversight and budgetary tracking to support strategic growthWillingness to work autonomously, collaboratively, and/or under the direction of senior staff, as neededAcute attention to detail coupled with the ability to think and act strategicallyFlexible and able to multitask; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutionsDemonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systemsMaturity, humility, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and a get-it-done dispositionEducational Background and Work Experience:Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year institution; Master's Degree preferredMinimum 3 years of operations management experience in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environmentExperience managing cross-functional teams to develop and implement systems and processes to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of a growing organizationCompensationWe offer a generous compensation package, including full health benefits. All staff members are equipped with the tools needed to succeed, including a dedicated work space, laptop computer, email, high-speed internet access, and all necessary supplies. The current salary range for Deans of Operations is $61,500 - $98,689.Placement on the salary scale is determined by years of relevant, teaching experience. We do not negotiate salaries because of research that demonstrates the resulting impact of inequitable pay, primarily for women and people of color.
