Shipping Specialist

Position Objective:Assist the Shipping Lead by assuming responsibility for the training and development of new employees, facilitating the hazardous materials shipping program, and serving as backup to the Shipping Lead. May be asked to provide clear verbal and/or written communication to dealers, vendors, and various PCNA departments regarding shipping issues. Provide coaching to personnel and develop a productive work team. Primary Responsibilities:Provide training to all new employees in Shipping in the following areas: proper picking, packing and shipping of orders and hazardous material processing and handlingCoordinate the daily processing and handling of all shipments including hazardous materials, Proper document preparation and maintenance of current files (to include the MSDS book) Plan daily orders (as needed) Perform standard picking procedures for all order types as required.Monitor and adhere to shipping commitments in terms of daily shipping schedules and proceduresMonitor and replenish as necessary any supplies and equipment needed in the Shipping areaGuarantee the safe and efficient operation of all material handling equipmentConduct quality audits of the work being performed by the Shipping personnelProvide support to the Parts Information Coordinator and dealers as needed Provide support to the Shipping Supervisor and Leads as neededMotivate assigned team members to perform at a level that meets and exceeds our current productivity and quality targetsDevelop and participate in a 'continuous improvement' environment that facilitates process enhancements Education:High School Diploma or GED equivalent requiredExperience (Job and Industry):2+ years parts warehouse experience with an excellent work recordSolid working knowledge and understanding of computerized parts systemsForklift and Hazmat certified (Will provide training for the latter)Advanced computer (PC) proficiency that include working knowledge of SAP, MS Excel and Word applications, etc.Sound foundation in basic mathematic principlesMust be able to operate a forklift, pallet jack and other various warehouse equipmentCompetencies:Communication (both verbal and written)Safety OrientationInitiativeTeamworkFlexibilityAdaptabilityPlanning & OrganizationPhysical Demands:Open warehouse environment with variant temperatures Monday - SaturdayHeavy lifting, up to 50 poundsSitting, lifting, pushing, pulling and extensive standing and walking on concrete surfacesOther:Responsible for the proper usage of, awareness of, and compliance with Information Technology security policies at Porsche Cars North AmericaSeeks to ensure proper retention of electronic documents, business confidential information, and actively demonstrates an understanding of the need to safeguard competitive information in both electronic and non-electronic formatsMust secure and maintain Hazardous Shipping licenses IATA and CFR49
