Lewis Rice LLC, a large downtown St. Louis law firm, has an opening for an Asbestos Paralegal. Thisposition requires an undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience. A minimum of five years of litigation experience and a Paralegal certificate are preferred. Qualified candidates will have the following: organizational skills, the ability to proactively managedeadlines, critical thinking skills, the ability to work independently and on a team, hybrid workcompetency, writing skills, the ability to communicate professionally, and the ability to utilizetechnology resources to support clients and attorneys.The hours of the position are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position offers an excellent salarycommensurate with experience and an excellent comprehensive benefits package, including majormedical plans, a 401(k) plan, and paid parking.ResponsibilitiesReviews documents provided by clients or other parties at the request of asbestosattorneysPrepares, organizes, and maintains filesConducts researchAssists attorneys with preparation for trials, hearings, closings, and other mattersPrepares graphic aids, tables, slides, and other audio/visual devices for attorneysUtilize Litigation Technology resources as support for clients and attorneysOther tasks as requested by the attorney and/or supervisorMust maintain confidentiality of client mattersEducation and Experience RequirementsUndergraduate degree or equivalent work experienceA minimum of five years of experience and a Paralegal certificate are preferredAny equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilitiesKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities RequirementsKnowledge of the principles, methods, materials, and practices of legal research is requiredKnowledge of various Litigation Technology programsExtensive writing skills, particularly the ability to prepare memoranda and other legal documents, are requiredFamiliarity with Microsoft Office Computer Programs (particularly Microsoft Word andMicrosoft Excel) and the InternetOrganizational, time management, and prioritization skills are requiredKnowledge of general office procedures is required; knowledge of law firm office procedures is preferredAbility to deal tactfully, effectively, and professionally with staff, attorneys, court officials, other government officials, and the general public is required
