Our client, an esteemed law firm, is seeking a skilled and experienced Labor & Employment Paralegal to join their Hartford, CT office. This position will support the firm's "got to" Attorney (Shareholder) for many of the most recognized education institutions and corporations. The attorney is a skilled trial lawyer, negotiator, investigator, and proven leader. Highly regarded by boards, in-house legal teams, and leadership of institutions, the attorney has provided steady guidance to clients through crisis, change, litigation, and all manner of adversity and challengesDutiesPrepare and maintain (or oversee maintenance of) case files, indices and chronologies.Assemble and organize requested materials for attorney or client review.Utilize a variety of computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases (such as document review and file management systems), and imaging in discovery and case management.Assist in document production process, including review for production and/or privilege, tagging and redaction, preparing privilege and redaction logs, and assisting with logistics and coordination utilizing document review tools, and quality control of productions.Guide clients in defensible processes applying the rules of ESI preservation and collection.Utilize internet file transfer, document security/encryption, and best practices in client data management.Interact with E-Discovery vendors, vendor management, and quality control.Draft correspondence, memoranda or pleadings.Perform investigative and background research, including witness location, and cases/legal authority gathering.Create and maintain databases of documents and information.Review and analyze documents, data, and depositions as required by team attorneys and/or clients.Assist at and in preparation for depositions of fact and expert witnesses.Coordinate preparation of motions and briefs including proofreading, cite-checking (if applicable), assembly of exhibits, filing and service.Assist at and with preparation for trial including gathering documents to be used as trial exhibits, preparation of witness binders, deposition designations, review and organization of materials for use by team attorneys, preparation of electronic presentations, and coordination with litigation support personnel.Organize work rooms.Liaise with internal firm departments and outside sources to gather information and data.Provide proactive management of larger cases, including coordination of support efforts and preparing for upcoming events.Additional administrative duties as assigned.Annual billable hours are 1600 (excluding overtime from calculations)Experience/Education5+ years of paralegal or other relevant experience with labor and employment law.Bachelor's Degree or paralegal certificate required.
