This role ensures compliance with regulatory guidelines, enhances workforce development, and improves nursing efficiency while prioritizing patient safety and quality care. The ADON serves as the primary decision-maker in the absence of the DON and leads key initiatives related to compliance, staff management, and operational effectiveness.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Healthcare Administration preferred.Must possess a current, unencumbered, active state license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN).Minimum five (5) years of nursing experience, preferably in an acute care setting.Minimum three (3) years of leadership or management experience in a supervisory, administrative, or nurse leadership role.Minimum one (1) year of experience working with pediatric populations.CPR (PALS) certification required; additional leadership certifications (e.g., CNML, CDONA) preferred.Strong understanding of local, state, and federal healthcare regulations, including AHCA, APD, DCF, Joint Commission, and CARF standards.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:Implement and monitor risk management strategies, identifying, reporting, and mitigating clinical and regulatory risks to ensure patient safety and operational excellence.Lead internal audits and compliance reviews to ensure the facility remains inspection-ready at all times.Serve as the primary decision-maker in the absence of the DON, ensuring seamless continuity of nursing leadership.Ensure full compliance with accreditation bodies such as Joint Commission, AHCA, CMS, and other regulatory agencies.Develop and enforce facility-wide policies and procedures related to nursing care, infection control, and quality improvement.Mentor and train charge nurses, registered nurses, and other clinical team members, ensuring strong leadership across all nursing areas.Develop and implement nursing workforce recruitment and retention strategies to improve employee engagement and reduce turnover.Oversee staff performance evaluations, competency assessments, and professional development programs.Lead leadership training programs for charge nurses and nursing supervisors to strengthen internal talent pipelines.Assist in the development and management of the nursing department's budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost-effective operations.Monitor staffing costs, supply expenses, and operational efficiencies, making recommendations for financial sustainability.Collaborate with IT and administrative teams to implement and oversee nursing technology, electronic health records (EHR), and data-driven patient care models.Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), patient outcome trends, and compliance metrics to drive continuous improvement in nursing services.Lead initiatives to reduce patient safety incidents, infections, and medication errors, ensuring high-quality resident care.Oversee emergency preparedness efforts, including disaster response planning, infection control readiness, and crisis intervention strategies.Ensure patient care plans are properly developed, updated, and implemented based on regulatory requirements and best practices.WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDSMust be able to stand, walk, and move for extended periods.Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds occasionally.Work environment involves exposure to medical equipment, airborne particles, and moderate noise levels.Employee BenefitsBroward Children's Center (BCC) is proud to offer a comprehensive benefits package to full-time benefit eligible positions to support your health, financial security, and well-being.
