Job DescriptionLong-term opportunity that offers per diem! A large utility is looking for a construction manager in Central and Eastern Michigan. The construction manager oversees and ensures the safe, timely, and cost-effective execution of utility construction projects (i.e. compressors, pump stations, and gas transmission lines), managing teams, resolving conflicts, and maintaining compliance with standards and documentation requirements.Key DetailsPay Rate$50-$70/hourPer Diem$200/day (for days worked) for those who qualifyExpenses & MileageReimbursed for any field travel (paid weekly)ScheduleMostly field-based with ~2 office days per week; some remote days possibleOvertimeup to ~10 hours/week possible (varies by project)Experience8+ years in gas, industrial, utility, or wastewater construction management (gas experience preferred)Start DateMid-March (long-term opportunity!)ResponsibilitiesMonitor and manage safety, scope, cost, and schedule during the construction phase of projects.Report directly to the Project Manager (PM) and supervise all team members, including contractors and company employees, during the construction phase.Ensure construction adheres to applicable company-generated or industry standards, with input from subject matter experts.Facilitate pre-construction meetings with a focus on safety and communicate schedule or construction recommendations to the PM.Oversee pre-fabrication and onsite construction, tracking safety, scope, quality, risk, schedule, and budget.Report daily progress to the Project Manager.Supervise contract inspectors and resolve issues related to materials, construction, and scheduling conflicts.Coordinate testing and start-up of installed equipment.Develop punch lists and obtain sign-off for the turnover checklist from the Field Leader (FL).SkillsExperience and knowledge of construction management, gas facilities construction experience is a plus.Knowledge of field operations and equipment operations.Strong conflict management and decision-making skills.Record management and documentation abilities.Integrity, trustworthiness, and leadership in managing and measuring project outcomes.Effective negotiation, organizing, planning, and priority-setting skills.EducationBachelor's degree or equivalent applicable experience.
