About The RoleWe are a mid-sized bakery located in Petaluma, CA, 50 miles north of San Francisco and seeking an experienced and results-driven leader to oversee our baking facility maintenance program for our well-established organic and whole-grained manufactured baked products. We are a leader in organic and sprouted grained natural products.This role is reports directly to the Director of Operations and works with alongside other departments such as Production, Shipping, Sanitation and Compliance & Quality.The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with a proven track record of success in developing mechanics and preventive maintenance programs, smooth project management, as well as making recommendations for capital expenditures. Please see the job description below:FACILITY MANAGER - JOB DESCRIPTIONREPORTS TO: Director of OperationsJOB PURPOSE: Oversees the efficient operation, maintenance, and safety of plant, facility, and machinery, including but not limited to purchasing and planning, in a cost-effective and safe mannerRESPONSIBILITIES1) Maintains plant, facility, and equipment in a safe and cost-effective way, ensuring a continuous product flow and maintaining high standards of service and efficiency.2) Ensures safety of all maintenance workers3) Coordinates all maintenance personnel activity in the department including:a) staffing needsb) disciplinec) timely and accurate evaluationsd) job descriptionse) trainingf) orientations4) Keeps plant and equipment in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. 5) Plans, researches, and recommends machinery purchases and oversees installations to ensure optimal use of space and functionality.6) Maintains and monitors preventative and predictive maintenance programs.7) Develops yearly departmental budget in an accurate timely fashion and keeps to budgetary limits during a fiscal year.8) Manages the day-to-day operation of the food safety and quality systems in their department by making plans specific to individual projects and outlining the particular actions and considerations that may be needed for that project to meet ASB's food safety and quality goals, including investigating and remedying safety non-conformances.9) Collaborates closely with all operational departments and Quality Assurance10) Provides written and oral information to the Director of Operations and work groups in a timely manner11) Attends and participates in all operational work group meetings12) Keeps updated on current maintenance engineering technology.13) Participates in the maintenance rotation of scheduled work as needed14) Other duties as requiredWORKING CONDITIONS1) Typical work week average is 40-55 hours a week or as needed2) Occasional Saturday, Sunday, and holiday work schedule3) On call for emergency breakdowns in machinery.4) Tasks which require safety precautions5) Tasks which require protective equipment6) Some travel required for external training and equipment purchasesQUALIFICATIONS1) BA Facility Management or 5 years of equivalent experience. 2) Experience in plant maintenance in a wholesale bakery includinga. Procuring repair partsb. Plant designc. Implementing preventative and predictive maintenance programsd. Troubleshooting and repair of machinery2) Experience and/or training in supervisory and communication skills, with strong organizational, communication, and leadership abilities3) Knowledge of state, local, and federal rules and regulations as they pertain to bakery machinery and equipment4) Experience in developing and utilizing a budget5) Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to express ideas effectively, orally and in writing.6) Computer literate: intermediate Microsoft office skills, including word, excel, power point. 7) Knowledge of PLC software and Allan Bradly Controls8) Experience with Antero, Fiix, Hippo CMMS or other preventative maintenance software. 9) Experience in coordinating and monitoring building maintenance needs
