Our client, a medical laboratory is seeking an Accessioner/Driver to join their team!Accessioner / DriverSchedule:Regular Shift: Monday to Friday, 5:00 PM - 1:30 AMTraining Shift: Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM - 5:00 PMLocationIrvineHourly Pay: $20 ($25 for hours worked after 7:00 PM)We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accessioner / Driver to join our team. The role offers a base pay of $20 per hour, with a $5 differential for shifts extending past 7:00 PM. Training will take place during the day for one to two weeksJob OverviewThe Accessioner plays a key role in laboratory operations by accurately receiving, processing, and managing specimens and associated documentation. This position requires strong attention to detail, adherence to regulatory guidelines, and collaboration with laboratory staff to ensure seamless workflow.The Driver is responsible for the timely and secure transport of specimens to designated locations. This role demands efficiency, organization, and professionalism at all times.Key ResponsibilitiesAccessioner Duties:Perform data entry, filing, telephone communication, and general clerical tasks.Work independently or as part of a team under the supervision of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills.Understand laboratory test terminology and processes.Accession and prepare specimens for in-house testing and reference laboratories.Operate centrifuges and ensure proper specimen processing.Identify and resolve specimen issues (e.g., integrity concerns, incorrect specimen type, stability, billing, or documentation problems).Scan requisitions into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and conduct pre-analytical quality control checks.Maintain inventory, restock supplies, and order reagents as needed.Record temperature and humidity levels.Keep all work areas, including trays, centrifuges, and storage spaces, clean and organized.Under BPC section 1269, assist with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control procedures after proper training.Support the Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) as needed in compliance with regulatory standards.Assist the Quality Assurance (QA) Manager with monthly QC reports and proficiency testing documentation.Participate in LIS verification procedures.Complete special projects and other assigned tasks within given deadlines.Maintain accurate records and report any issues to the supervisor (e.g., requisition quality control, preventive maintenance logs, temperature logs).Driver Duties:Conduct a daily inspection of the delivery vehicle, reporting any issues such as low tire pressure, wear, or damage.Immediately report any accidents or vehicle-related concerns to the supervisor.Adhere to all road safety rules and company transportation policies.Refuel the vehicle as necessary.Maintain a clean, organized vehicle at all times.Follow a set delivery route and ensure timely specimen transport.Use maps or GPS for efficient navigation.Confirm pick-up schedules with "at-will" clients before departure.Accurately log all samples collected, including:Number of samples receivedLocation of sample collectionTime of pick-upRefrigerate blood samples as required.Deliver specimens promptly and securely to the designated destination using the correct access points.Obtain confirmation of sample receipt from an Accessioner.Ensure all specimens are transported according to company and state safety regulations.QualificationsEducation & Experience:High school diploma or GED required.A valid California Class C Driver's License or the ability to arrange alternative transportation as needed.A clean driving record with no moving violations.Skills & Competencies:Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with team members, patients, and external agencies.A cooperative and professional attitude when handling and relaying information.Ability to multitask, meet tight deadlines, and prioritize tasks effectively.Strong listening skills with the ability to communicate thoughts clearly.Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.Excellent time management skills.Proactive problem-solving skills, using various approaches to tackle challenges while seeking guidance when necessary.Please submit your resume for consideration!
