We are committed to building the leaders of tomorrow.What is the scope of the program?The program lasts for 9 weeks and includes core functional work, special projects, and leadership development. We encourage interns to invest in themselves and grow their personal and professional skills. Through our internship program, we offer a professional development series, leadership speaker series, and community building activities to connect with team members all over the company.Transportation InternThe Transportation & Distribution Internship is designed to develop the candidate's professional skill-set and grant access to real world exposure to all facets of the VCF Distribution Supply Chain.As the Transportation & Distribution Intern, you will:Work on a rotational assignment within multiple areas of VCF Team Distribution to assist with:Corporate TransportationSecure and negotiate pricing for all outbound routing based backhaul opportunitiesPlan all domestic inbound Shipments utilizing carrier networkAnalyze network for potential savings opportunitiesPartner with in-house 3PL to develop new carriers and capacity solutionsVCF Fleet ManagementMonitor out-bound service and communicate with VCF carrier & store partnersMonitor driver "Hours of Service" statistics dailyGenerate weekly KPI reporting to assess fleet performanceAssist in completing weekly payroll and other administrative tasksVCF Distribution OperationsWork with management around inbound/outbound load planningAssist supervisors in regards shift labor requirements / schedulingManage offsite container planningMonitor and forecast all container demurrage/per diem chargesAssist with analytics and reporting regarding TZA/pro-track softwareThe ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:Self-Identifies as a member of a historically underrepresented group including but not limited to Black, Hispanic, Native American, and WomenWorking towards Bachelors degree in Retail, Business, Merchandising or related field3.0 GPA or higherEmbody our values: Serve Others and Own it.Internship or work experienceCampus involvement and leadership experienceEffective communication skills, written and verbalStrong organizational skillsProactive approach; identifies and solves problems
