Paralegal - Private Family Office (Residential Real Estate) | Garden City, NYAbout the RoleA multi-generational private family office in Garden City, NY, is seeking a highly organized and proactive Paralegal to support the legal department in handling Landlord-Tenant (L&T) matters, regulatory compliance, and administrative tasks related to a diverse residential real estate portfolio.This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, self-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can effectively multi-task, and has strong communication and writing skills. The ideal candidate is resourceful, adaptable, and eager to learn while ensuring the smooth operation of legal processes and regulatory compliance for the real estate portfolio.Key ResponsibilitiesLegal & Administrative Support: Assist attorneys with day-to-day landlord-tenant matters, compliance obligations, and general administrative legal tasks.Regulatory Compliance: Support attorneys in ensuring properties comply with Federal, State, and Local laws, including but not limited to lead, asbestos, elevators, boilers, faí§ade, construction, and alterations.Agency Liaison: Provide administrative support in managing legal challenges with city and state agencies, such as the Department of Environmental Protection, Department of Buildings, Department of Sanitation, Environmental Control Board, Department of Transportation, Department of Health, Department of Housing Preservation and Development, and Fire Department.Document Preparation & Organization:Draft and organize correspondence, memorandums, and legal filings.Enter and manage data and records to ensure accurate documentation and organized legal files.Maintain attorney calendars, schedule meetings, hearings, and compliance deadlines.Track and monitor legal fees and outstanding balances related to legal matters.Meeting & Event Coordination: Schedule and supervise tasks related to filings, meetings, events, and appointments, ensuring attorneys have the necessary materials prepared.Cross-Department Collaboration: Work with various departments within the office to facilitate legal operations and assist with special projects as needed.Requirements & Qualifications2+ years of experience as a paralegal, preferably in real estate law and/or landlord-tenant matters.Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.Strong writing, verbal communication, and problem-solving skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal software.Experience with Monday or similar project management platforms (preferred, but not required).Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and transition between tasks seamlessly.Fluency in a second language is a plus, especially Spanish or Albanian.
