Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking a Veterinary Technician, (prefer RVT) at a Research Facility. Part-Time: 8-12 hours per week, with potential for more hoursType: Temporary, 6+monthsLocation: Mountain View, CAWage: $35/hour DOEWe're seeking a certified Veterinary Technician who will coordinate and perform clinical and surgical procedures on all species housed in the vivarium. The Veterinary Technician (prefer RVT) has specialized skills related to husbandry in specialized populations of animal models, including rodent species, rabbits, and pigs.. This person will work with the Attending Veterinarian and Director of Operations.Ensures conditions vital to the well-being of animals are continuously met in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act as implemented through the United States Department of Agriculture regulations and for federally funded research, the U.S. Public Health Service Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, and The Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory AnimalsPerforms various routine procedures such as blood withdrawal via various routes, substance dosing via various routes, intubation, IVT catheter installation in rodents, rabbits, and pigs, anesthesia etc.Ensures that proper environmental conditions (temperatures, humidity, light levels, airflow, ventilation, pest treatment) are always met and safety signage (with IACUC and EHS guidance) is posted and up to date.Ensures that all animals are provided feed, water, enrichment, bedding and clean cages, according to their individual care requirements and in respect of the researchManages the per diem records, and procurement and inventory control of all feed, bedding, gases (oxygen and carbon dioxide), staff supplies, & equipmentEnsures that animals are healthy by observing animals daily for signs of illness or disease, testing for parasites, and coordinating necessary care with the Attending Veterinarian and Director of OperationsMaintains required facility records, including daily inspection logs, health records, protocols, censuses, and facility records, in computer databases and paper filesMonitors experiments to ensure research study protocols are being followed and notify the Attending Veterinarian, Director of Operations, and IACUC if deviations are notedPerforms other miscellaneous duties as directed by Attending Veterinarian and Director of OperationsMay work outside of regular schedule when necessaryQualifications:Must be a veterinary technician, certified by an organization accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association or an experienced animal care technician who can perform routine animal procedures as described aboveExperience working with laboratory animals and conducting routine animal procedures, including blood draws, intubation, anesthesia, and IV catheters in rodent species, rabbits, and pigsExperience with rodent breeding coloniesAbility to monitor and maintain colony health.Experience with regulatory compliance requirementsKnowledge of the use and maintenance of laboratory facilities and/or equipmentAvailable to work holidays and weekends when requiredAbility to maintain digital and physical databasesPlease Quick apply, A Kelly Recruiter will outreach to you.
