Director, Enterprise Applications

The Director of enterprise Applications reports directly to the SVP, IT, and oversees the day-to-day leadership, strategy, software development and architectural efforts of the applications department. This role will have ownership for system, core business applications and all custom software that built and purchased to operate its business. This role will coordinate directly with internal stakeholders, peers and counterparts within Machinery Services to drive process improvement, and automation, and application and ERP integration, with a focus on delivering solutions that are scalable, reliable and robust. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Manage and Build a Best-In-Class Software Engineering Organization: Manage domestic and global software engineering and application support teams that design, build and maintain best in class technology products that drive business growth. Responsible for all software engineering domains, including development, QA/QE, security, stability and SRE.Reliability and Modernization: Build and manage robust, reliable, secure, and scalable systems with a cloud-first, cloud-native approach.Partnership and Collaboration: Work directly with business groups and functions to ensure technology team members understand business needs, functional specifications, and user journeys.Provide Excellent Customer Service: Provide insight and guidance, and resolve escalated issues throughout the application development, implementation, and support/production lifecycle.Project Leadership: Set goals, strategies, budgets and oversee the deployment of large/enterprise scale initiatives. Define and communicate project milestones, service level agreements, and resource allocation to SVP IT, department business leaders, support staff, and end users.Promote Best Practices: Influence and establish best in class engineering practices through solid design decisions and tools.Foster a Data Driven Culture: Encourage a data-driven culture to improve efficiency, scalability, stability, and security of applications.Team Leadership and Talent Development: Be an advocate for your team, mentoring and coaching team members while building a culture of extreme ownership and accountability that celebrates success. Drive Continuous Improvement and Automation: Document and analyze business processes, with a focus on process improvement, business process automation and efficiencyKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Strong people leadership skills including talent assessment and development, Extensive experience with software development and the SDLC, including experience with enterprise architecture, agile/scrum methodologies and CI/CD.Considerable knowledge of engineering, accounting, and mathematical principles required to analyze computer systems needs and design and implement software solutions in an ERP environmentExtensive experience in leading, managing, and developing the enterprise applications portfolio, ensuring interoperability and responsiveness to business needs. Experience building and managing teams that blend internal and external resourcesExcellent verbal and communication skills to be able to communicate effectively with senior-level staff to determine data processing needs and programs needed to provide required data.Qualifications:5+ years of experience with SAP (ECC6 preferred) or 10+ years of other ERP experience in a manufacturing and distribution environment.Demonstrated experience and knowledge of ERP, enterprise level application packages, financial, complex data structures, and reporting systems.Bachelor's degree in computer science or related degree. Master's degree preferred.10 years of demonstrable experience in an application leadership role.Experience managing Microsoft Dynamics preferred, with a focus on Field Service, CRM, and Customer ServiceExperience with mergers and acquisitions, with a focus on acquiring and merging new organizationsExperience managing offshore development and support teams.Software architecture background with various systems: reporting, finance, databases, custom applications, etc.Has a cloud-first approach, background in cloud architecture, and modernizing applications by migrating from on-prem to cloud.
