Distribution Engineer

DISTRIBUTION ENGINEERLevel 1 or Level 2JOB SUMMARYThe Distribution Engineer position requires an individual to manage daily engineering work activities in an assigned HQ or in a project based environment.The candidate's main responsibility is to design, estimate, and coordinate construction of "Capital" and "O&M" power distribution system projects. The projects involve overhead and underground designs to provide electrical service for new business residential, commercial, and industrial customers.The successful candidate must provide superior customer service and be able to prepare and schedule construction of jobs to meet committed service dates. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for processing all documentation in accordance with compliance requirements.Other duties will include handling customer inquiries such as power outage complaints, voltage complaints, damage claims, assisting with Distribution Compliance and Asset Management programs.The candidate will also participate in storm restoration efforts and must be available after business hours to work on storm duty or special projects requests.The right candidate must be an initiative-taker, excellent communicator, critical thinker and able to make sound decisions.JOB QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience for a Distribution Engineer position (Level 1 or 2):Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or General)Certifications: EIT (FE) or Professional Engineer's License (PE) in lieu of the above bachelor's degree is a plus.Previous distribution engineering experience is a plus.Distribution and/or related engineering experience with a power utility company is a plus.Level 10 - 1 years of progressive engineering experience or equivalent academic education and experience.Ability to communicate with all levels in the organization.
