Overview. We are seeking a Legal Fellow to assist with our Class Action and Mass Arbitration practices. This person will work with our attorneys in litigation, doing both administrative and substantive work. They will be in the trenches with excellent attorneys working on behalf of consumers. We expect the Legal Fellow to be a recent college graduate seeking to dive into litigation practice before law school. The salary is between $70,000 and $90,000, commensurate with experience. We ask for a two-year commitment. Responsibilities.Draft, edit, and format briefs, pleadings, discovery requests, and correspondence with attorney assistance and oversight.Conduct research across a variety of subject areas in the class action and consumer protection spaces. Administrate cases by keeping track of external and internal deadlines and scheduling the team's time. Identify opportunities to develop new cases. Qualifications and Qualities.Education. Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.Experience. The best candidates will have experience supporting litigation practice. This is not required. Writing and Editing. This person should be a skilled reader, writer, and editor. Resumes should show enthusiasm for the craft of writing, and writing samples should show skill. Digital Fluency. Ideal candidates will have previous experience with e-discovery platforms. This is not a requirement; general competence with a computer will do. But many tasks will require the ability to problem-solve technical issues through research and trial and error. Initiative. This role requires ownership of tasks and projects. A successful fellow will understand case priorities and take it upon themselves to ensure that all case-critical tasks are completed in a timely manner.Commitment. We do not keep long hours for their own sake, but in litigation one may have long days or weeks. Being able to meet deadlines is a crucial component of legal work; and a commitment to helping the team complete work on time is required. Interest in the Law. The Legal Fellow handles all aspects of litigation. Therefore, interest in attending law school is expected; if you don't want to go to law school, this role probably isn't for you. Interest in Our Work. The best candidates' materials will clearly outline why advocating on behalf of consumers appeals to them. Consumer protection law is an important area of law about which we care a great deal, and we want all our team members to share that passion.How to Apply.
