QSLWM is looking for candidates with 3-20 years of experience in handling complex insurance defense and civil litigation cases, particularly those who have demonstrated strong skills in review and analyzing medical records gathering (Texas law requirements for subpoenas and deposition on written questions), preparation of medical chronologies (understanding of medical terminology), record summaries, subpoenas, case file management, legal writing and drafting key documents - pleadings, discovery (requests and responses), exhibit preparation, and pre-trial materials. About the Role:The Paralegal - Insurance Defense position is crucial in supporting attorneys in the preparation and management of cases related to insurance defense. This role involves conducting thorough legal research, drafting legal documents, and organizing case files to ensure that all necessary information is readily available for court proceedings. The successful candidate will play a key role in analyzing case law and statutes to assist in developing legal strategies. Additionally, the paralegal will communicate with clients, witnesses, and experts to gather information and coordinate schedules for depositions and hearings. Minimum Qualifications:Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies or equivalent work experienceA minimum of 3 years of experience in a legal environment, preferably in insurance defense.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.Paralegal certificationExperience with case management software and legal research tools.Working knowledge of Tabs and iManage.Responsibilities:Meet with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.Draft legal documents including routine pleadings and motions, affidavits, and interrogatories; files motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures.Research and analyze statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to attorneys.Interview clients and witnesses and prepares summaries of their statements.Prepare, organize, store, and retrieve case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, exhibits, and other items.Assist attorneys with trial preparation, which may include attending trials and hearings.Develop and maintain records regarding billable hours spent on specific cases.Perform other related duties as assigned. Skills:Strong research and analytical abilities, which are essential for gathering and interpreting legal information. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.Proficiency in computer systems and legal software applications.Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary for drafting documents and interacting with clients and witnesses. Attention to detail is critical in organizing case files and ensuring accuracy in legal documents. Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures will enhance the paralegal's ability to support attorneys effectively.
