Yes, you've read it right. We're searching for a key position in Aurate's history. We've been fortunate enough to have grown to a point (with double-digit growth since launch) where we are looking for a Product Merchandiser to oversee the strategic and operational facets of Aurate's product offerings.This role is integral to managing our product lifecycle"”from curating collections to analyzing performance"”and ensuring that our product assortment aligns with our brand vision and customer needs. You will play a pivotal role in planning product launches, driving category performance, managing vendor relationships, and optimizing inventory to maximize profitability. Your insights and decisions will directly impact the success of our product lines and provide essential support to the CEO and broader team.What you'll be doingYou will bridge the gap between design, production, and sales, ensuring the right products reach the right customers at the right time while optimizing profitability and maintaining brand identity. More specifically:Product Selection and DevelopmentTrend Research: Stay updated on jewelry trends, consumer preferences, and market demands to develop appealing product collections.Design Collaboration: Collaborate with the COO,CMO and/or external partners to develop new pieces that align with the brand's identity and target audience. Assortment Planning: Curate and maintain a balanced product assortment across categories (e.g., rings, necklaces, earrings) to meet customer demand and optimize sales.Pricing StrategyAnalyze production costs, competitor pricing, and perceived value to set appropriate pricing.Ensure pricing aligns with profitability goals while remaining competitive.Inventory ManagementForecast new collections demand to maintain optimal stock levels, avoiding overstock or stockouts.Monitor product performance and adjust inventory strategies accordingly.Sales and Marketing CollaborationPartner with the sales and marketing teams to align product launches and promotions with seasonal trends, holidays, and other key selling periods.Provide input on promotional strategies and marketing materials to maximize product visibility and sales.Supporting marketing collaborations by helping drive the product development strategy with 3rd party brands and personalities outside of Aurate.Performance AnalysisTrack sales data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the success of products and collections.Use insights from data to refine future product offerings and strategies.Responsible for tracking, analyzing, and reporting KPIs, including but not limited to units sold, sales volume, and sell-through rates. Ensure regular updates and actionable insights to drive performance improvements.Customer FocusUnderstand the brand's target market and design collections that meet their tastes, needs, and preferences.Collect feedback from customers and sales teams to guide future product development.Sustainability and Ethical PracticesDepending on the company, ensure sourcing aligns with ethical and sustainability standards, such as conflict-free diamonds or recycled metals.Who you are & what you've doneExperience: Minimum of 5 years in merchandising or a similar role.E-commerce Expertise: Prior experience with e-commerce or D2C businesses is highly preferred. Candidates should have worked in organizations where a significant portion of revenue was generated from D2C channels and were specifically responsible for merchandise planning for those channels. Experience in businesses primarily focused on wholesale is less relevant.Jewelry Knowledge: Previous experience in the jewelry industry is a plus, though not required. Experience in related industries such as apparel, luxury, or accessories is also valuable.Collaboration: Highly collaborative and adept at working cross-functionally with multiple departments.Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Analytical Skills: Highly analytical with a strong sense of curiosity and a data-driven mindset.Adaptability: Proven experience thriving in fast-paced environments that value ownership and a bias for action.Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to create detailed documentation and processes to enhance merchandising at Aurate.Now, about AurateWe're a direct-to-consumer fine jewelry eCom startup.
