As we expand our operations in San Francisco, CA, we are seeking a Food Quality Assurance Manager to lead our food safety, compliance, and quality initiatives at this brand-new location.Position Overview:As the Food Quality Assurance Manager, you will play a critical leadership role in ensuring that all food safety and quality management systems meet or exceed regulatory, customer, and company standards. Here's what you'll enjoy:Comprehensive BenefitsMedical, dental, and vision coverage starting Day 1!Financial SecurityEmployer-paid life insurance, 401(k) with company match, and more.Growth OpportunitiesRoom for advancement and professional development.PerksFree meals, parking, and membership to the American Airlines Credit Union.RecognitionBe part of a company that values your contributions and celebrates success!What You'll DoFood Safety & ComplianceDevelop, implement, and maintain Food Safety Preventive Controls Programs (Policies, SOPs, HACCP Plans, Traceability & Recall Processes, Allergen Programs, and Associated Records).Ensure compliance with FDA FSMA, USDA, HACCP, Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and airline customer food safety requirements.Conduct internal audits, risk assessments, and microbiological testing to ensure the highest quality standards.Provide technical expertise on food safety, regulatory compliance, and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).Oversee pest control programs and sanitation verification to maintain an optimal working environment.Quality Management & Continuous ImprovementMonitor, analyze, and report on food safety trends, quality performance, and inspection results to identify opportunities for improvement.Lead mock audits and external inspection preparation to ensure readiness for regulatory and customer audits.Collaborate with Operations, Production, Sales, and HR to embed a strong culture of quality and safety throughout the facility.Participate in company-wide initiatives such as Global Quality Standards (GQS), Lean Manufacturing, and Employee Safety programs.Leadership & TrainingRecruit, onboard, and develop a high-performing Food Safety team.Provide coaching, training, and performance evaluations for staff to ensure ongoing compliance and skill development.Lead employee education programs to enhance awareness and adherence to food safety protocols.Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for food safety and quality, ensuring alignment with company and industry best practices.What You Bring to the TableBachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology or related fields.Certified Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) Five or more years of experience in Food Safety roles with a minimum of 2 years management experience.Technical proficiency in the areas such as of food microbiology, food chemistry, food safety, and food regulations.Proven understanding of government regulations in relation to food processing as FDA FSMA, Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), HACCP regulations and USDA.Proven analytical and leadership skills.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Be a collaborative leader who inspires, manages, coaches and respects people.Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills that combines with an aptitude for multi-tasking.Knowledge of computer skills required, including use of technology (scanners, tablets, printers, copiers, etc.) and Microsoft Office programs, as well as cloud based systems.
