Are you a seasoned purchasing professional with a knack for managing processes and mentoring new talent? LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Senior Buyer in partnership with a local company in the suburbs of the NW Portland area. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about supporting production and engineering teams.Key Responsibilities:• Ownership of Purchasing Flow: Oversee the day-to-day flow of purchasing activities, ensuring smooth operations.• Process Management: Manage departmental processes without direct supervisory responsibilities.• Oversight of PO Issuance: Ensure the accuracy and efficiency of purchase order issuance, without handling the day-to-day tasks.• Mentorship: Guide and mentor new buyers, fostering their growth and development.• Customer Focus: Understand that our primary customers are the production and engineering teams - they rely on us!• Sourcing for NPI: Take on some sourcing responsibilities for New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.• Onsite Collaboration: Work 100% onsite, closely collaborating with production teams and participating in daily meetings.• Flexible Hours: Enjoy flexibility in your work hours (7 AM - 3:30 PM or 8 AM - 4:30 PM) while being available for occasional night meetings with international teams.What We're Looking For:• Experience: 5+ years in a purchasing role, with a strong preference for experience in NPI and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).• Skills: Beyond tactical purchasing - you should be adept at working closely with production and engineering teams.• Communication: Proactive and anticipatory communication is a must. Our manager's pet peeve is finding out something the team knew from another manager!• Team Player: Be ready for an all-hands-on-deck approach when needed. We are a small team of generalists.• Professionalism: Maintain a professional yet down-to-earth attitude.
