They are looking for motivated Testing & Commissioning Technicians to join their expanding team. They pride themselves on offering the close-knit feel of a small company with the benefits and perks of a larger one.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and manage testing and commissioning plans, covering required tests, circuit isolation, sequencing, construction schedules, outages, energization and other similar responsibilities.Review project drawings and diagrams, conduct pre-job walk-throughs, and communicate necessary adjustments to clients.Lead & support project bidding, inspections, troubleshooting, and execution of electrical projects, including protection and control systems.Provide hands-on leadership in testing and commissioning at utility sites, mentoring technicians and engineers to ensure timely, safe, and budget-compliant project completion.Ensure client satisfaction by meeting expectations & quality standards in a timely manner.Ensure compliance with industry standards (OSHA, NFPA, NETA) during testing and commissioning.Manage hands-on execution of projects including transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, transfer switches, relays, SCADA, and metering.Perform testing on medium & high-voltage substation equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, and capacitor banks.Promote safe work practices and maintain a proactive mindset towards identifying and addressing potential risks.Review field performance, safety logs, and provide feedback for improvement.Supervise field operations for substation protection, control, SCADA, and metering systems.Interpret and troubleshoot electrical diagrams to ensure correct implementation during testing & commissioning.Collaborate with project leads and managers to support scheduling, change orders, RFIs, and address discrepancies.Track project progress and maintain documentation.Assist with energization and conduct in-service checks to verify electrical quantities.Test AC/DC station service systems, including transfer switches, panelboards, and battery systems (amongst others).Perform acceptance testing and logic validation for protective relays and schemes for transmission lines, buses, transformers, and breakers.RequirmentsWilling to travel frquently to sites as needed.High school diploma or GED, with an AS or BS in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems), or completion of a 3-5 year Electrician Apprentice Program, or U.S. Army Prime Power Production or U.S. Navy Nuclear Program with 3+ years of hands-on electrical equipment experience.Minimum of 5 years of field service engineering, testing, and commissioning on relays and apparatus.Proficiency with test sets such as Doble, Megger, Vanguard, and Arbiter.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Sit, talk, listen, read, write, and type; frequent walking, hand use, reaching, squatting, and bending.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and handle equipment for testing.Flexibility to work varying hours, including overtime, to meet deadlines.Knowledge of NETA testing specifications is helpful but not required.Strong understanding of power distribution, AC/DC voltage circuit theory, and practical troubleshooting.Extensive experience with electrical power systems from low voltage to medium voltage.Proven ability to read and understand schematics and blueprints.Solid experience with diagnostic software and service report writing.Familiarity with industry standards including ANSI/NETA, IEEE, NFPA, NETA, NEC, and UL.Must be authorized to work in the United States.Willingness to commute to and work on customer sites daily, including in harsh weather conditions.Must complete background checks and drug and alcohol testing pre-hire and ongoing as required by customers and/or company.Valid U.S. driver's license with a compliant driving history.Oscar Associates Limited (US) is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
