Sr. Technical Designer, Knitwear

Ulla Johnson is looking for a Senior Technical Designer, Knitwear, to join our Design Team!We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Women's Knitwear Technical Designer to support our Knitwear Design Director. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the team to bring innovative designs from concept to production, ensuring the highest quality and craftsmanship.YARN RESEARCH (alongside with Design Director)Yarn knowledge (gg, compositions, nm)Attend seasonal yarn shows and make brand appropriate selectionReceive color cards and add pricing & MOQ information to all yarn cards to facilitate development selectionEdit previous seasons cards and keep yarn color cards organized and up to date in storage closetsSTITCH/YARN TRIALS LAUNCH (alongside with Design Director)Organize and format all reference swatches to loan to factories and create stitch trial tech packs & requests with specific construction and gauge informationRequest current stock positions from yarn suppliers to choose ideal colors for developmentAdvise factories which yarns/colors to order for developmentAnswer any queries regarding stitch development Add images or references to knitwear boardsCREATE COMPLETE TECH PACKS FOR ALL KNITWEAR STYLESAssign style numbers and add to master chart in shared drive. Create seasonal Knitwear folder in shared drive and organize tech packs, stitch development, fit photos, factory photos etcTech packs must be complete with all factory/stitch/gauge & yarn informationDetailed construction & finishingsBody measurementsAll relevant digital imagesFACTORY ALLOCATION/CORRESPONDENCEReply to all emails every day, essential to keep work flow smooth and meet seasonal deadlinesTrouble shoot technical questions, yarn & knitting issuesPush factories to send digital images of all samples prior to shippingSEASONAL CALENDAR (alongside with Design Director)Review with production team and beginning with show date build calendar with Proto launch, yarn selection, SMS colors, fittings schedule, SMS launch etcRECEIVE AND PREPARE SAMPLES FOR FITTINGMeasure/steam samples prior to fittingAnticipate any issues with samples, mock up and organize options for review during fittingNOTES & MEASUREMENTS DURING FITTINGTake all fit & construction notes during fittings, take fit photosUpdate all tech packs in shared drive with revised body specs, construction details and fit photosPrepare samples to return to factories with construction notes and pinned correctionsACCOMMODATE ACCESSORIES REQUESTSIncluding support items for runway shows such as slips, socks, panties, knitted accessoriesPREPARE PRODUCTION KNOWLEDGE OVERVIEWDescription of Knitwear groups: technique, yarns, etcLaunching additional knit downs for production referenceSpecial Projects/Tasks:Show Preparation: Checking and Steaming SMS, AlterationsExperience:7+ years of experience in the Fashion IndustryFASHION DEGREESkills:EXELLENT KNITWEAR KNOWLEDGEPROFICIENT IN OFFICE (EXCEL,WORD,POWERPOINT), ADOBE (PS,ID,AI)Salary Range: $100,000.00- $120,000.00 Compensation may vary based on factors such as years of experience, skills, and qualifications.
