Major, Lindsey & Africa's Interim Legal Talent group has an immediate need for an Interim, Full-Time General Counsel focusing on global employment, contracts, non-profit and real estate activities.Overview: Our dynamic client seeks a highly skilled attorney and proven leader to manage an in-house legal team. This is a highly visible full-time Interim General Counsel role, overseeing global legal operations within the non-profit and higher education field. Working closely with internal teams as well as external counsel, both domestically and internationally, this role will provide key insights for legal compliance, risk management, global insurance, and a future contract management process.Company: A Global leader in Educational Programs.Experience: Five plus years of experience in a legal leadership capacity and substantive knowledge and experience as a generalist within a large array of legal fields (e.g. real estate contracts, partnership agreements, leases, privacy, and global employment related matters). A successful candidate should have superb interpersonal skills and be able to provide leadership and guidance to the members of the legal team and serve as a key advisor to the Executive Leadership Team.Location: Hybrid (2-3 days/week) in downtown Chicago. Remote is a slight possibility.Responsibilities Include:Leading an in-house legal team in all day-to-day activitiesAdvising and navigating both internal teams and external counsel on general legal matters involving domestic and international laws and regulationsProviding expert guidance for global legal operations across the organization and serving as a key advisor to the Executive Leadership TeamOverseeing the review, negotiating and drafting of commercial agreementsWorking hands-on, as necessary, in the drafting and reviewing of real estate agreements, global partnership agreements, and vendor agreementsProviding key insights for global operations, including compliance, escalated matters, risk management, and insuranceAssessing existing contract management systems with the ability to recommend future best practicesQualifications Include:High emotional intelligenceSuperb interpersonal abilities to effectively communicate within the internal team, cross-functionally and externally with business partners5+ years of leadership experience in a legal roleSubstantive knowledge and experience as a generalist within a large array of legal fields (global employment, privacy, global matters)Large-scale contract management experience (notably: Real Estate, Leases, Business Partnerships)Excellent professional credentials including active and in good standing license to practice law in IllinoisBusiness experience with a non-profit organization and understanding of 501(c )(3)Information regarding benefits can be found on MLA's Website on the Consultant Resources Page: interested and qualified candidates should apply directly with Major, Lindsey & Africa for review and consideration.Major, Lindsey & Africa does not discriminate against applications on the basis of age, sex, race or any other protected characteristics pursuant to applicable state or federal laws.Bullhorn Job ID: 215191
