Hercules Materials Holdings - 2nd Shift Port Operations Supervisor - Detroit, MI.Come and join an expanding team! Established in 2021, Detroit Aggregate entered the aggregate business to service six (6) company owned ready mix plants situated across the Greater Detroit metro. Over the course of the past 3 years, Detroit Aggregate has grown into a trucking operation and a port operation. Our goal at the port is to oversee the importation of cement and aggregate materials. Then, get these materials properly stored and sent to our plants for concrete production. The port has grown to a 35 person operation over the past year! We are continually looking to expand and we are looking for a leader that is ready oversee a shift on this constantly expanding operation!What does Detroit Aggregate offer?Compensation: $60,000 - $75,000 annuallySaturday Work: Incentivized at $50/hrFSLA: ExemptCompany Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k, HSA/FSA, and Life Insurance.Growth at Hercules Materials: We offer each employee the opportunity to move into any facet of our complex business. We regularly sponsor employees to get certified in different aspects of the concrete and aggregate industry!So, what does a Port Operations Supervisor do?You are the front line supervisor of our aggregate operations team, driving production and safety!Shift is from 2:00pm - 12:00am, subject to longer hours during peak seasonMaintains the highest standard of quality and safety in all areas of the dock, which include loading bulker trailers with cement, offloading inbound vessels, and proper warehousing of cement powder.Working with the Operations Manager to develop vessel discharge plans, familiarizing yourself with proper operating processes and procedures.Allocating resources properly to ensure a smooth running port operation.Enforce key performance metrics and standard operating procedures.Evaluating team to make sure all responsibilities are met in a timely manner.Encourage innovative improvements to better unload vessels and warehouse materials.This position will report directly to, and work collaboratively, with the operations manager.Preferred Qualifications:Experience supervising a port operation is preferred.Experience in aggregate, maritime, port operations or related industry also preferred.A college degree highly preferred, particularly in supply chain management, maritime business, nautical studies, or related field.An understanding of all aspects of warehousing.A commitment to team concepts, ownership and an outgoing personality.Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal professionally with all managers, employees, vendors and customers.Excellent problem solving skills.Working computer skills.May be required to use protective gear and to take other precautions.Required to work long hours during peak seasonAble to think analytically and on the spot when problems arise.Walk and stand, sit, climb or crawl around and under machines or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and drive a vehicle.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Familiar with WINDOWS (basic applications), Microsoft Office Suite, and basic computer skillsWorking knowledge, or the willingness to learn, of maintenance proceduresWorking Conditions:Able to work extended hours as needed - Up to 70+ hours per week during the peak season.Continuous exposure to heat, cold, noise, and working outdoorsMust wear protective equipment while at the locationPhysical Requirements:Must be able to work at heights; climb stairs, and ladders.Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequentlyRequires shoveling, sweeping and greasing of plant equipmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with employees and other individuals as well as function safely within a warehouse environment and outdoors, exposed to weather and elements.Hercules Materials does not discriminate in employment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy and gender identity), national origin, political affiliation, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, genetic information, age, membership in an employee organization, retaliation, parental status, military service, or other non-merit factor.
