About the ClubEstablished in 1958, The Birchwood Club is one of the longest-standing premier racquet clubs on Chicago's North Shore. Situated on 12 acres of beautifully landscaped property, it is a comfortable, relaxing getaway in the heart of Highland Park. The Club offers the area's finest racquet sports programming, swimming, and exceptional dining and social events. The Club has twelve tennis courts, eight pickle courts, six paddle courts, a swimming pool, and multiple dining outlets.Job Summary (Essential Functions)The Club's Food & Beverage Manager should possess strong leadership and organizational skills, with a proven track record in the hospitality industry. The Manager will be responsible for the Club's dining services and all food and beverage production throughout the Club. The Manager hires, trains, and supervises subordinates and ensures that the wants and needs of Club members and guests are consistently exceeded. Additionally, assures a high level of hospitality and service from all personnel while ensuring the appearance and cleanliness of the dining room are of the highest standard. The ideal candidate excels in managing people, fostering a culture of trust and mutual respect, and creating engaging training programs that enhance team performance.Reports to: General ManagerSupervise: Servers, bussers, bartenders and front desk staffJob duties/tasksOversees daily food & beverage operationsManages and maintains the point-of-sale systemEffectively forecast operation needsAssists with dining, banquet and bartending service, as neededAttends staff meetings and coordinates/attends pre-shift line-up meetingsWorks closely with front desk staff in managing dining and event reservations and updating food and beverage menusLead efforts to foster a positive and enjoyable work environment through dynamic training programs and collaborative leadershipCoordinates with the kitchen and other departments to ensure efficient service and member/guest satisfactionDevelop new and innovative ways to train and enhance staff experiencePlan, implement and manage staff recruiting, training and retention programsHelps plan and approves the organizational chart and staffing and scheduling plansAssures that effective orientation and training for new staff and professional development activities for experienced staff are planned and implementedMonitors employee records to minimize overtime and keep labor costs within budgetAddress member and guest complaints and keep the General Manager appraised of situations and corrective action takenAssures that all standard operating procedures for revenue and cost control are in place and consistently followedDevelops an operating budget for each of the department's revenue outlets; monitors and takes corrective action as necessary to help assure that budgeted sales and cost goals are attainedDevelops a capital budget for all necessary food and beverage equipment and recommends facility renovation needsAssures that all safety, accident and emergency policies and procedures are in place and consistently followedComprehends budgets, daily sales reports and payroll progress reportsMonitors and orders inventory and uniformsPerforms other duties, as assigned, to meet business needsEducation and/or Experience:Prior experience in Private Clubs in a management role is requiredBachelor's Degree in hospitality management is preferredFine dining experience and strong beverage knowledge are requiredFood safety certification and alcoholic beverage certifications is requiredStrong understanding of quality food and beverage operationsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsA strong desire to be visible to our membership and provide optimal member serviceExcellent organizational skillsAbility to work a variety of shifts as needed (i.e. day, night, weekend, and holiday)Compensation and Benefits:Compensation is commensurate with experienceSalary: From $72,000.00 + Bonus per yearComprehensive benefits package:401(k)Health insuranceDental insuranceVision insurancePaid time offPaid continuing educationComplimentary mealsCome and join the team!
