The Asset Risk Manager will be responsible for the development, operation, and maintenance of approaches, tools and processes used for projecting and managing all valuation models which include but are not limited to residual value (RV), maintenance, repair, and tire (MRT) estimates, and fair market valuations (FMV). The Asset Risk Manager will also support the organization's Enterprise Risk Management process, driving strategic risk initiatives, facilitating risk group meetings and activity, and facilitating internal governance.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSResponsible for setting residual values, based on historical data, internal models, and external market factors; ensuring that Wheels is estimating future values as accurately as possible by reacting to macro and micro changes in the economic and automotive industry climateOversee, manage and develop all aspects of asset risk portfolio analytics and pricing, and be a role model and subject matter expert on qualitative and quantitative asset risk subjectsMaintain a strong understanding of all technical aspects of quantitative analytics and be able to translate these into actionable insightsProvide strategic direction to Finance, Operations and Commercial teams on risk mattersCollaborate with departments across Wheels in development of new products, overseeing potential exposures and working together to mitigate risksDrive empirical and data-driven asset risk practices and analytics, as well as analytics across all risk domainsManage and develop Quantitative Data Analyst, setting clear goals, providing constructive feedback and ensuring high quality deliverablesManage monthly governance (committees) deliverables in addition to facilitating review of all other documentation (assessments) to ensure that relevant committees are aware of, and properly impact all current risk-related developmentsSupport operating lease team delivery of client related depreciation requests, non-standard lifecycle cost requests, quotes, equity position analysis, and/or ad-hoc financial and risk modeling in a timely and accurate mannerProvide leadership, coaching and mentoring to the Asset Risk team, driving a higher level of team productivityReview available external and internal industry and economic data to proactively identify any trends that could impact Wheels asset risk positionCreate and maintain existing Asset Risk Management related policies, procedures, and work instructions to comply with applicable internal and external requirementsLEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES and STRATEGYThis role manages 1 employeeThis position's leadership responsibilities involve demonstrating ethics and integrity, developing adaptability, displaying drive and purpose and exhibiting leadership stature internally and externally, while leading a small team.COMPETENCIES - SKILLSUnderstanding of statistical, economic, financial, and leasing conceptsInterest in the automotive industry and economic theoryStrong analytical and communication skills, especially translating complex concepts into clear communication and workable solutionsKey driver and decision-maker in RV setting, sale and leaseback transactions, lease conversion (financial to operating), recalculations, and market value estimationsSolid understanding of data analytics and modeling, and will support the Asset Risk, as well as other Risk Management domains, with analytics and quantitative insightsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree in finance, economics, or statistics required; master's degree is preferredSeven (7+) years in quantitative roles in the fleet, automotive, financial services or banking fieldsMinimum 2 years managing teamsProficiency in MS products, Excel and SAS or other analytical platformsProficiency in SQL and PythonJOB SPECIFICATIONS, PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTWork Environment: This hybrid position is in Des Plaines, Ill (eventually Schaumburg) or Alpharetta, GA and operates in a professional office environmentPositions Type/Standard Schedule: This is a full-time position, Monday through FridayTravel: No travel is expected for this positionPhysical Demands: Speak, hear, and see, and use hand and fingers for computer keyboard and phone.
