Job DetailsDescriptionEssential Duties and Responsibilities:Safety:In coordination with Health and Safety team, drives safety culture by addressing safety concerns and implementing safety improvement measuresSuccessful implementation of Health, Safety and Security program plans, practices, and objectivesParticipate in the development and implementation of safety and quality plans and proceduresEnsure Environmental compliance on all projectsReview Safety Management Systems, Quality Management Systems and Environment Management SystemsPromote a safe work environment to show that safety is the most important function, ensuring that all employees follow safe practicesPersonal Characteristics:Thrives in the fast pace rapidly growing companyPatient and professional in stressful, deadline-driven situationsLead and support the site teams in technical, quality and safety, using systems in placeAbility to represent the company before clients, external agencies, and among this organization's executive staffBuild trust and departmental structure by adhering to consistent standards as it relates to quality, process, and employee expectationsAnalytical problem solver who views obstacles as opportunities and creates solutions to systemic problemsSelf-motivated, self-starter who takes full ownership of project resultsSkills:Exhibited success with process development and implementation, change management and growthExperience within renewable energy, general contracting, or commercial constructionDetailed oriented, analytical, organized, able to meet established deadlines, strong communication skills, and works well in pressure-type situationsCollaborates closely with the Engineering and Procurement teams to define and refine scopes and prepare and manage BOP/BOS RFP processes for wind, solar and battery energy storage systemsWork closely to prioritize key activities on projects across the company portfolio in various stages from design through closeoutEnsure on-time project delivery and excellent status communication and reporting to internal parties and clientsCoordinate with other department heads and senior management, to ensure projects are properly designed, planned, and completedAssembles presentation materials and reports for Senior Management on the status and risks for the construction projectsContracts:Expert understanding of contractual terms, estimating, cost management, project scheduling and the supervision of project teamsLeads and coordinates key functions such as financial feasibility analyses, engineering/design, project legal review, permitting activities and financial negotiationsPrepare and submit requests for proposals, in addition to direction and oversight of the pre-construction teamsSupport the responses to Requests for Proposals and support the bid process to negotiate new projectsWork with internal and external parties to negotiate the final contractual scope and deliverables and complete engineering design reviews for compliance to contract and scope of workQualify, negotiate, and secure contracts with subcontractors; oversee the procurement and/or equipment and materialsEstablishes and maintains relationships with subcontractors and clientsProject Controls (Schedule & Budget):Ensure projects meet requirements for budgetingThe Director/VP will work with other departments and personnel to develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, analysis, and reporting of projects cost- to -completeWorking with Project Managers and site leads, the Director/VP will manage change orders as they arise, review, and monitor quality control processes and deliver oral and written reports as requested or contractually requiredSupervisory Responsibilities:The Director will participate in the identification and selection of the senior project teams, on-site leads and assist in the specification of labor classifications and personnel needsThe Director will have responsibility for the oversight and direct communications with owners, site operations, subcontractors, and superintendentsMentors and trains staff on project control tools to effectively manage project costs, schedules, scopes, change orders and inspires a culture of disciplined attention to detail and frequent contract referencing to support contractor management and generation of management reportsHelp with employee relations, performance reviews, recruitingProvide and facilitate mentoring, development, and training resources; participate in implementation and development of "First Time Right" training initiativesEducation and/or Work Experience Requirements: Minimum 10 to 15 years Solar Construction Experience including a minimum of 5 years P&L responsibilityEngineering Degree or Construction Management Major preferredPMI/PMP certification a plusKnowledge of OSHA safety and construction regulations. OSHA 30 certification preferredExperience and proficiency with MS Office including MS Excel and MS WordKnowledge of state and utility rules and incentives with respect to renewablesSolid knowledge and understanding of key value drivers for renewable power projects and developer/owner/operator company objectivesStrong oral and written communication, project management, leadership, and team-building skills, including experience working with cross-functional internal and external technical advisors and stakeholdersDemonstrated ability to read, interpret, edit, and understand plans and specifications for civil and electrical workExperience with managing renewable energy construction contracts including change order management and dispute resolutionsExperienced with managing and driving project schedulesPhysical Requirements/Work Environment: Ability to travel 80% of time or more to project locationsThis job description is intended to describe the essential job functions of this position and is not intended to be an all-inclusive statement of job responsibilities.I have read, understand and am able to perform the duties within the job description.
