Key ResponsibilitiesProject Collaboration & Leadership:Work closely with the Project Manager and clients to define project goals and deliverables.Lead I&C design teams for medium to large projects, ensuring quality and timely completion.Conduct workshops with clients to understand instrument preferences, HMI graphics design, and development of design standards.Design & Specification:Develop scopes of work for I&C systems, networks, and related projects.Design PLC SCADA networks for medium and large systems.Specify and design industrial fiber optic networks, systems, and components.Design SCADA network block diagrams and control panel layouts.Select instrumentation and prepare P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams).Develop control strategies and write control system narratives.Develop input/output point lists and prepare ISA data sheets and instrument site layouts.Cost Estimation & Budgeting:Prepare preliminary and final construction cost estimates for I&C projects.Manage scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring project stays on track.Project Management:Review submittals and provide technical guidance to ensure compliance with specifications.Manage the instrumentation portion of medium to large I&C projects, especially for water and wastewater treatment facilities.Delegate tasks to other engineers and CADD technicians, overseeing the quality of work and ensuring deadlines are met.Conduct quality management reviews of I&C designs.Identify solutions for complex or unique instrumentation challenges.Technical Leadership & Mentorship:Mentor and train junior Instrumentation Engineers and other team members.Develop project-specific specifications for unconventional instrumentation applications.Attend to technical details in the preparation and review of calculations, drawings, and specifications.Participate in the editing and ongoing development of I&C master specifications.Field & Client Interaction:Conduct site visits during construction and operational phases to provide support.Effectively communicate complex engineering concepts to clients and stakeholders in understandable terms.Participate in client meetings and business development efforts to expand project opportunities.Radio Telemetry Systems Design:Design and implement radio telemetry SCADA systems using various radio technologies (microwave, spread spectrum, cellular, MAS).Make timely, practical decisions and take appropriate actions based on thorough evaluation of alternatives.Proactively identify issues, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions when needed.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.6-12 years of experience in electrical power and control systems for water, wastewater, and petrochemical facilities.Proficient in P&ID development, instrumentation selection, control panel layouts, PLCs, SCADA HMI software, and control system network design.Experience with radio telemetry, control schematics, logic diagrams, and field construction/start-up activities.Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or the ability to obtain within six months.Strong leadership and team management skills.Exceptional technical writing and communication skills.Ability to prioritize and balance competing project demands.Strong knowledge of industry standards and project management principles.
