Our pharmaceutical client is seeking a Senior Project Engineer candidate who will be responsible for assisting the project manager and project team with project documentation and control, job cost accounting, scheduling efforts. In order to be successful, this candidate should feel comfortable taking on many tasks that require various skills, and appropriately prioritizing those tasks' completion.ResponsibilitiesExecutes and manages capital projects from feasibility through commissioning, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, delivery, and costLeads process design and optimization for critical systems, including reactors, condensers, distillation columns, utilities (steam, chilled water), and storage vesselsDevelops and reviews detailed Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), technical specifications, and engineering documentationCollaborates cross-functionally with operations, quality assurance, maintenance, and external vendors to achieve project milestonesConducts safety assessments such as Management of Change (MOCs), Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs), implementing risk mitigation strategies to ensure compliance with FDA, OSHA, and other applicable standardsUtilizes project management tools (e.g., MS Project) to effectively manage project scope, schedule, and budgetProactively identifies opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and operational efficiencyDiagnoses and resolves operational and equipment issues by analyzing system performance, identifying root causes, and implementing effective corrective actionsProvides troubleshooting support for equipment such as reactors, condensers, and distillation columns, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performanceSupports knowledge sharing and mentorship to foster a high-performing engineering teamStrong leadership skills to manage projects and guide cross-functional teams toward shared objectivesAdvanced technical expertise in mechanical and chemical engineering, specifically in the context of API production and industrial chemical processesExceptional analytical and diagnostic abilities to troubleshoot process issues and develop practical, efficient solutionsProficiency in developing and analyzing engineering documentation, including P&IDs and technical specificationsAdapts quickly to changing priorities and challenges to ensure impactful results are delivered on time and aligned with organizational goalsExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of presenting complex ideas clearly and effectivelyProactive problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently and identify innovative solutionsSolid understanding of regulatory and safety compliance requirements in pharmaceutical manufacturing environmentsStrong organizational and project management skills to juggle multiple priorities effectivelyDemonstrates a strong sense of urgency and ownership in driving projects to completion while maintaining high-quality standardsEducation/ExperienceBachelor's degree in mechanical or chemical engineeringMinimum 7 years "˜experience with at 5 years working in a pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing environmentProficiency with CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit) and project management softwareBaseline proficiency with SAP or other ERP systems preferredPMP or Lean Six Sigma certification desired
