As a General Manager for Tompkins Square Bagels, you will:Create a fun environment whereby you engage with your team and our guests, by being present on the floor, supporting and coaching your team.Ensure overall financial success of the restaurant by looking for ways to grow additional sales, adhering to labor and purchasing budgetsEnsure overall restaurant compliance to company standards, policies and state lawsHire and onboard new crew members, complete all new hire paperworkCreate crew schedules based on the needs of the business, reacting to seasonality, weather, etc.Approve all time punches, ensuring all state laws are being followed and process payrollEnsure ongoing development and growth of your teamActs as manager on duty, opens and closes the restaurant, manages cash handling and reconciliationEnforce all Tompkins Square Bagels policies and standardsUse required tools, forms and logs to support shift execution, document results and take corrective action when neededDeploy crewmembers during a shift and provide exemplary customer service· Ensure all equipment is properly cleaned and maintained. Make management aware of any issues. Ensure all PM and recurring services are scheduled accordingly.· Captures opportunities to build sales through catering/ events and deliveries, always looking to accommodate the guest· Confidently handles guest complaints, concerns or service issues immediately, focusing on finding solutions and resolving issues· Completes accident/injury reports should they arise, always informing management as and when they happenDetail-oriented, organized and able to manage multiple priorities that may be constantly changing· Leads difficult conversations, manage employee performance and resolve potential conflicts confidentially, while making leadership aware and completing documentation in a timely manner· Ensures safe food practices, proper handling of all products; handwashing and highest sanitations standards are implemented and followedSelf-driven, flexible, and highly energetic with strong analytical, written and verbal communication skillsAble to work effectively and efficiently both independently and collaborativelyAble to recognize problems, set goals, create plans and convert plans into action to solve problemsAble to measure performance, subjectively and objectively with a high level of emotional intelligenceProficient in a variety of technology systems including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook) and ability to learn and adapt to new systems quicklyAble to work a variety of shifts including early mornings, days, weekends and holidaysAble to manage all public dealings in a professional manner, consistent with Tompkins Square Bagels policies and acts as a brand ambassador inside and outside the restaurantThe physical work environment includes working in a fast-paced kitchen and interacting with and serving our guests. This requires extended periods of physical exertion such as walking, standing and lifting. It also includes working both inside and outside in varied temperatures, with and around food products and common allergens, industrial equipment, commercial cleaning products, and requires use of personal protective equipment and ergonomic activities necessary to complete the job functionRequirements2+ years of restaurant or retail management experienceMust be 21 years of age or olderHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredMust Have a NYC DOH Food Handlers CertificateMust be able to lift 50 poundsBenefits offered for Full time salaried managers:Medical InsuranceCompetitive PayPaid Time OffSick TimePre - Tax Commuter BenefitsSalary range $65,000 - $80,000.00 annually.
