Job Title: Shipyard EstimatorLocation: Alameda, CA (Onsite) Pay Rate: $40-50/hourWork Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Job Type: Contract-to-HireJob Description:We are seeking a highly skilled Shipyard Estimator to join our client's team in Alameda, CA. This role involves formulating detailed cost estimates for vessel repairs, including assessing project scope, manpower requirements, materials, and pricing. The ideal candidate will have experience in ship, machinery, or aviation estimation and a strong background in documentation. You will collaborate closely with the Sales Account Manager, ensuring accurate and well-structured proposals for customers while effectively handling change orders and RFQs.As a key part of the team, you will evaluate repair and construction projects, document estimates, and assist in preparing final presentations for project managers. This position is ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail who prefers a documentation-heavy role rather than full-scale project management. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will interact with customers, account managers, and internal teams to ensure transparency and accuracy in project estimates.Key Responsibilities:Develop comprehensive estimates for vessel repairs, including labor, materials, and timeframes.Work with the Sales Account Manager to draft proposals and communicate project details with customers.Review contracts and ensure compliance with industry and government standards.Document and track change orders and RFQs efficiently.Utilize Microsoft Project, Excel, and Primavera for estimate formulation and project tracking.Ensure estimates align with project scope, government contract requirements, and marine industry standards.Provide detailed documentation and reporting to support the project management team.Qualifications:Experience in ship, machinery, or aviation estimation is a plus.Strong understanding of contract reading and documentation.Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, and Primavera.Background in government contracts and marine estimation preferred.Excellent communication skills to collaborate with customers and internal teams.Detail-oriented with the ability to formulate precise and well-documented estimates.
