Heavy Equipment Mechanic$69,050 - $80,179/annuallySt. Paul, MNWork in Fort Snelling for the purpose of building and upfitting heavy duty plow trucks which includes, but not limited to performing skilled diagnostics via advanced technology computer software to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical/electronic problems for the repair and maintenance work on engines and drive drain, hydraulic and emission systems for a variety of equipment some of which work in a corrosive environment. This includes heavy and light duty vehicles (E85 and Bio-diesel Vehicles), specialized equipment for snow and ice control, construction, road and site maintenance purposes. This position also works on equipment in remote field locations, truck stations, shops, and other locations as necessary for non-district equipment.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSCompletion of Heavy Equipment Apprenticeship program or graduation from a two year Heavy Equipment Mechanic or related training program that includes: diagnosis and repair of engine, drive train, brakes, steering/suspension and hydraulics for heavy equipment, e.g. trucks, tractors, buses; training in electronics sufficient to make engine adjustments and diagnose problems; and training in the use of computerized testing equipment and/or onboard computers sufficient to diagnose problems and adjust the functions of components.ORApproximately 3 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic which includes: diagnosis, repair, maintenance and modification of both heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment and gasoline powered vehicles; diagnosis and repair of engines, brakes, drive train, steering/suspension and hydraulics; use of electronics sufficient to make engine adjustments and diagnose problems; and the use of computerized testing equipment and/or onboard computers sufficient to diagnose problems and adjust the functions of components.ANDClass A or B driver's license with no brake restrictions and tanker endorsement and a Valid Commercial Vehicle Inspectors obtained by the end of the probationary period (within 6 months of hire date.)APPLY ONLINE BY 2/14/2025:Go to "Search open positionsEnter the Job Opening ID "83791" in the Keywords search box and click "Click on the Job Title to view the job postingClick "Apply for JobWhen prompted for your Referral Source, please list: social media - LinkedIn - job slot.Only applicants received on mn.gov/careers will be considered.
