Major, Lindsey & Africa's Interim Legal Talent group is seeking a temporary Director of Litigation for Reproductive Rights and Health to cover the current Director's leave. This full-time (hybrid) role involves leading a team of litigators to defend reproductive health care access, advance health equity, and support the organization's mission. The position requires 37.5 hours per week for a 5-month duration.Overview: Our client is seeking a temporary Director of Litigation to lead a team of litigators to defend reproductive health care access, promote health equity, and address issues such as abortion, birth control, sex discrimination, and the defense of the Affordable Care Act. This person will also collaborate with various teams on cross-cutting litigation matters, with a focus on gender justice, racial justice, and the rights of LGBTQI+ individuals.Company: Non-profit Advocate OrganizationExperience: At least ten (10) years of relevant experience, with a demonstrated ability to independently manage all aspects of litigation, craft and prioritize strategies in response to legal developments, and nonprofit experience preferred.Location: HYBRIDResponsibilities Include: Lead the team's litigation efforts in partnership with colleagues and pro bono firm counsel, including:Identifying key priorities and opportunities for involvement in litigation focused on reproductive rights, health equity, and justice.Developing new cases and managing discovery, motion practice, trials, and appeals.Responding to and pursuing opportunities for amicus briefs.Building and maintaining client relationships.Cultivating and sustaining strong working relationships with coalition and litigation partners, including pro bono collaborators.Developing litigation strategies and setting priorities based on legal trends.Overseeing staff, reviewing work products, and managing projects using project management techniques.Representing the organization at public events, conferences, coalition meetings, and in the media.Coordinating with attorneys from other teams on cross-cutting litigation matters and strategies.Collaborating with senior leadership and other litigators to share the organization's litigation work internally and externally.Qualifications Include: A law degree and admission to the DC Bar.A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience.Proven ability to independently manage all aspects of litigation.Expertise in developing and prioritizing litigation strategies in response to changes in the law.Strong strategic judgment.Excellent research, analytical, oral, and written communication skills.Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.Collaborative and collegial mindset with a commitment to working in a team-oriented environment, valuing the contributions of all team members.Pay rate: $115 to $120 per hour.Information regarding benefits can be found on MLA's Website on the Consultant Resources Page: interested and qualified candidates should apply directly to Major, Lindsey & Africa for review and consideration.Major, Lindsey & Africa does not discriminate against applications on the basis of age, sex, race or any other protected characteristics pursuant to applicable state or federal laws.JOB ID: 214454
