Our client is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Lead Electrical Design Engineer for a 6-month contract, with the potential to transition into a permanent position. This role will involve leading design teams on innovative projects within the renewable energy sector, focusing on electrical systems such as Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), power conversion systems, and power distribution systems. Candidates must have experience in mass production and be proficient in designing electrical systems, including selecting components and scaling systems for production. A strong ability to accurately estimate project timelines and resources is essential, as well as experience with the analytical process in product design, including using design analysis to optimize and validate systems. Responsibilities:Design electrical panel schematics and manufacturing outputs.Represent Design Engineering in technical customer discussions.Lead electrical designs of power systems from concept to productionDevelop product requirements from customer input.Apply applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements.Select key electrical components with an emphasis on cost reduction.Perform design analysis, including DFMEA, derating analysis, arc-fault calculations, heat loss calculations, etc.Develop test plans against customer requirements.Debug prototype units using standard lab equipment.Execute verification test plan using standard lab equipment.Write manufacturing test specifications.Maintain industry-leading knowledge of the latest power conversion trends.Perform design reviews.Guide junior engineers.Recommend projects to develop Jabil capabilities, potentially resulting in patents, technical publications, or white papersRequirements:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.Extensive experience in mass production and scaling electrical systems.Proven ability to manage the full design lifecycle from concept to production, including accurately estimating project timelines and resource needs.Successful track record of transferring designs to manufacturing and supporting commercial product launches.A minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in electrical hardware design.Strong hands-on experience with testing, debugging, and commissioning power systems.Proficiency in electrical panel design using AutoCAD Electrical, Creo Schematics, Eplan, or similar design tools.Expert knowledge of the NEC (NFPA 70), UL508A, and/or IEC standards.Experience in designing and testing high-power systems to meet commercial product compliance standards.Hands-on experience debugging and testing power systems with standard lab equipment.Experience with field commissioning of power systems.
