Fellowship in Consumer Protection Litigation Migliaccio & Rathod LLP ("M&R") - a private public interest law firm in Washington D.C. with a practice focused on class action litigation in the areas of Consumer Protection, Wage Theft, Civil Rights, and Environmental Protection - announces a fellowship in its Consumer Protection practice group. This is a rare opportunity for a new attorney with a demonstrated interest in consumer protection law to become an integral part of a thriving practice. Previous fellows have gone on to federal clerkships, executive agency attorney jobs, and associate positions at other firms and ours.About the JobThe Consumer Protection Fellow is a full-time position. The Fellow will, under the supervision of the named partners and other managing attorneys, assist in all aspects of the prosecution of consumer protection cases. The firm's consumer protection docket presently consists primarily of many product defect, data privacy, and tenants' rights class action cases. By way of example, the firm was appointed to a key leadership position in a multidistrict litigation ("MDL") concerning defective medical devices that exposed a vulnerable patient population to dangerous chemicals. The litigation resulted in personal injury, medical monitoring, and class action settlements totaling $1.7 billion. In addition, the firm was recently appointed co-lead counsel in one of the largest data privacy MDLs, impacting hundreds of millions of consumers. Responsibilities may include investigation of potential cases; drafting, editing, and filing Complaints, briefs, and other documents in court; communicating with potential clients and current clients including in the preparation of declarations; and legal research and writing projects. The successful applicant will be exposed to a variety of challenging projects and will gain valuable experience. QualificationsWe are looking for a new attorney with exceptional writing ability, the capacity to think rigorously and creatively about the law, strong advocacy instincts, collaborative spirit, and a genuine passion for consumer protection. Compensation and BenefitsPay will be at a salary of $5,000 a month, with eligibility for bonuses, health insurance (including dental and vision), and limited student loan payment assistance. The position will be classified as exempt and, therefore, not eligible for overtime pay. The fellowship is expected to run from February 2025 to June 2025, though there is some flexibility with the timing and duration. LocationThe position will be hybrid, with two days a week in-person in the firm's Washington D.C. office.
