Core Overall Job Description:Reporting to the Chief of Strategic Initiatives, this position will own the development of strategic communications for the current Access Advance IP portfolios as well as research, conceive, design and implement strategic communications content and programs around future business development opportunities for Access Advance in the global marketplace. The successful person in this role thrives in a dynamic and fast-moving small-company professional environment and will uncover and develop business plans and strategies to introduce new patent portfolios to the market. They will have expertise in market strategy, strategic communications, business development and strategic planning specifically in the IP patent pool space. Specific Job Responsibilities:•Become a patent licensing industry communicator in the fields of video compression, smart home and other areas as they develop.•Develop and coordinate strategic communications content and campaigns to support current and future IP programs to include websites, social media, email newsletters, press releases and content placement, magazines, directories, supplements, conferences and research.•Integrate with the licensing team to anticipate communications needs based on marketplace developments.•Recommend conferences and forums that will provide maximum effective and positive exposure for Access Advance in the business of patent licensing.•Assist in developing a public policy program including lobbying and governmental outreach for promoting Access Advance approach to patent licensing.•Manage the communications budget.•Responsible for press release final drafts.•Oversee drafting of industry and Access Advance relevant articles for public dissemination.•Other duties as assignedWhat skills and abilities do you expect your ideal candidate to demonstrate?•Experience in using a variety of social media platforms for business promotion•Creativity in developing market content and affect decision-making.•Be able to understand issues relating to licensing and royalty matters.•Be able to summarize ideas and concepts in a concise, meaningful and easy to understand manner and effectively communicate that information both orally and in writing within the organization and externally.•Be able to develop and manage positive working relationships with all employees, owners, customers and other company constituents.•Be a confident speaker and presenter, able to create effective presentations and speak with ease and authority earned through subject matter expertise. •Have strong organization/management/leadership skills.•Be flexible and want to take on new challenges and responsibilities.Qualifications & Experience: Minimum Qualifications:•BS/BA degree. •Minimum of 5 years experience conceiving, designing and developing strategic communications content, programs and campaigns•Must be able to travel domestically and internationally as needed.•Must be willing to work out of an office in Boston (Note: The opportunity for remote work for a portion of the work week is available.)•Must be eligible to work in the United States.Desired Qualifications:•Prior experience in the intellectual property field, specifically patents & patent licensing and standard-essential patents & pool licensing•Leadership in or membership in industry organizations such as IAM, LES, or Intellectual Property Owners•Excellent strategic planning and analytical skills.•Good negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.•Strong oral and written communication skills. •Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. •Enjoys working as part of a team of experts. •Able to work effectively with all levels of an organization. •Demonstrated ability to develop process-driven solutions to issues. •Capable of handling multiple priorities in a time pressured environment.
