Certifications that align with the Labor & Employee Relations field.AFSCME Union experienceJob Description:The Labor and Employee Relations Manager will oversee all labor and employee relations activities, policies, and procedures under the supervision of the Director of People and Culture. This role involves setting the strategy for employee relations, providing guidance on employee behavior, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and collective bargaining agreements, particularly in a unionized environment. The Manager will work closely with HR, management, and union representatives to address issues proactively, manage grievances, and support performance management efforts. They will also help with negotiation strategies, policy development, training, and collaboration to promote a positive workplace culture. The position requires strong expertise in labor relations, conflict resolution, and communication skills, as well as a commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards.Key responsibilities include:Negotiating with unions and interpreting labor agreements.Managing grievances and ensuring compliance with policies and laws.Providing coaching and training on employee relations and performance management.Supporting HR and leadership in risk management and strategic planning.Ensuring confidentiality and handling sensitive matters with discretion.The position requires a Bachelor's degree in HR or related field, 5-8 years of experience in labor and employee relations, and a strong understanding of unionized environments.
