We currently work in the office located at 15th and H St NW, on Wednesdays and another day of your choosing.As the Manager for Storytelling and Engagement, you will: Create and implement a proactive communications strategy focused on specific audiences (Congress, funders, technical talent)Develop a story bank of fellow and organizational accomplishments and disseminate them via communications campaignsSupport fundraising through research and pitch development with Executive DirectorManage digital structure, including our newsletters, social media, website, and community channelsSupport on inward and outward-facing eventsWork with Deputy Director to develop and implement our guest speaker seriesWhat we're looking for in you:Must haves3-5 years of experience in communications Strong content development, writing, and editing skillsWorking knowledge of story gathering and communicating to different audiencesUnderstanding of brand voice and toneNice to havesGeneral understanding of government and the civic tech fieldExperience in CongressOrganizing or campaigning backgroundKnowledge of industry best practices for outreach and list managementWe don't expect you to have every qualification listed. In one month you will:Meet with our fellows currently placed in CongressCreate and implement a social media campaignSupport the TechCongress team with events communicationsIn three months you will:Conduct an audit of our social media strategy and start independently executing our communications strategy, including managing our newsletter, web, and social mediaRevive and revamp our guest speaker series for our fellowsHelp conduct research on funders and prep the Executive Director for pitch meetingsSet up meetings with organizational partners to build your relationshipsIn six months you will:Lead communications outreach to our partners and promote opportunitiesLead the development of our fellowship story bank and manage our digital media communications channelsCreate and maintain brand guidelinesConduct a quarterly analysis of our comms strategy and engagement numbersIn one year you will:Support regular fellowship events and gatherings with our Programs TeamRevamp our outreach strategy with community partnersField press inquiries about TechCongressManage all communications for one entire fellowship cohort from start to finish (i.e. announcing fellows and their placements, highlighting their accomplishments, etc.)This is a DC-based position. Fully remote is not possible.
