You MUST complete the following application link to apply: Culinary Artistas is seeking a dynamic Lead Educator to direct our youth culinary camps this summer. Founded on the belief that cooking connects us to our cultures and each other, we create engaging experiences that inspire young chefs. As Lead Educator, you'll be responsible for designing and implementing educational programming that integrates STEM, art, and culinary activities while managing daily operations and ensuring a safe, engaging environment for children ages 4-10.Job Title: Youth Culinary Camp - Lead EducatorLocation: San Francisco (Ghirardelli Square) OR East Bay (Albany & Piedmont) based on your preferenceEmployment Type: Seasonal, 35hrs per week (Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm, with optional weekend hours) Duration: You must be available for the entire summer, June 9th - August 22, 2025. We will assign you for a minimum of 8 weeks for SF camps or 4 weeks for East Bay camps.Responsibilities Program Leadership & InstructionServe as primary liaison between Culinary Artistas, parents, and kids representing our values and mission in all interactionsManage all parent communications including daily updates, concerns, and feedbackGather and prepare materials for daily STEM activitiesLead welcome activities and morning circle timeDesign and implement STEM projectsManage transitions between activitiesCoordinate with culinary staff on integrated programmingLead camp rules and expectations discussionsOversee outdoor play activitiesStaff Management & DelegationDirectly supervise and mentor Assistant Educator and Counselors in Training (CITs) ages 12-16Train staff on behavior management techniquesAssign staff positions during activities and transitionsMonitor staff performance and provide feedbackMaintain staff schedules including break rotationsEnsure proper staff-to-camper ratios during all activitiesSafety & OperationsMaintain facility security (door locking procedures)Oversee proper handwashing and hygiene protocolsMonitor safety during activities and transitionsManage student behavioral expectationsCoordinate with staff on safety proceduresHandle parent communications and concernsSchedule + Camper ManagementMorning prep and material gathering (before 8:50am)Managing drop off procedures (8:50-9:30am)Leading circle time and introductions (9:30-9:50am)Coordinating team assignments (9:50-10:00am)Leading STEM activities (11:30-12:45pm)Supervising outdoor play (1:15-2:30pm)Managing pickup procedures (2:45-3:00pm)Facilitate transitions between all activitiesSkills + Experience Required3+ years experience teaching elementary-age childrenStrong classroom management skillsExperience developing and implementing STEM curriculumExcellent organizational and time management abilitiesPrevious experience supervising staff or volunteersExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsFamiliarity with behavior management techniquesMust complete Live Scan background check (reimbursed)Current First Aid/CPR certification (or willing to obtain)COVID-19 vaccination requiredPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, or related fieldPrevious summer camp or enrichment program experienceBackground in STEM education or hands-on learningExperience with culinary education programsKnowledge of age-appropriate activities and transitionsYou Are...A skilled educator with strong leadership abilitiesComfortable being the public face of an organizationExcellent at communicating with children and familiesAdept at handling sensitive conversations with graceExperienced in managing multiple staff members, including teensHighly organized and detail-orientedCalm and efficient in a fast-paced environmentCreative in designing engaging activitiesPassionate about integrated learning experiencesCommitted to creating an inclusive environmentComfortable in a kitchen environmentAble to move between indoor and outdoor activitiesHave physical stamina for active supervision throughout the dayFlexible to adjust programming based on group dynamicsPay Starting at $25-$28 per hour, depending on role and experience.
