The position is part of a 3-year project, entitled Fast and (or?) Fair: Are Rapid and Equitable Processes for Large-Scale Solar Development Mutually Exclusive? We are part of a larger, five-institution team led by Doug Bessette at Michigan State University. The project is funded by the Department of Energy's Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO)'s Solar Energy Evolution and Diffusion Studies (SEEDS 4) program and will study how the streamlining of LSS siting processes to meet climate policy goals may produce unintended consequences, especially if processes result in power imbalances and reduce opportunities for meaningful community engagement. This project includes collaborators from institutions across the US and will examine how LSS siting processes can be accelerated while also reducing community burden and enhancing opportunities for deliberation and inclusion. The postdoctoral associate will be responsible for 1) Coordinating project logistics and team activities (i.e., conducting mixed-methods social science research at 2 proposed LSS sites in Virginia); 2) supporting other research activities in projects as needed and aligned with the postdoctoral candidates skills and interests 3) contributing to overall project management, dissemination of results, collaboration, and publication.
