Your top priority as an Inventory Planner is to maximize inventory investment efficiency, while maintaining desired in stock and fill rate percentages for assigned vendors and product categories for all channels of sales and distribution. Your positive, professional, roll-up-your-sleeves-to-help attitude contributes to our winning culture and makes sure we leave a lasting impression.Key Responsibilities:Works with merchandising team members to plan inventory needs versus sales forecasts. Works with vendors to ensure inventory availability and uses ASR/AWR software programsPerforms all necessary item and vendor maintenance functions within ASR/AWR. Tracks performance in key areas of responsibility using E3 and JD Edwards reporting tools.Reaches minimum requirements on inventory management as tracked in monthly areas of forecasting accuracy, mail order fill rate, retail transfer fill rate, service level goal attainment and inventory accuracy.Meets minimum requirements for in-stock position on all catalog, retail advertisements, end caps and new stores at time of activation.Completes vendor and item setup process and history exceptions within the E3 system in a timely manner.Orders all merchandise and places all merchandise transfers to maintain necessary inventory levels based on inventory budgets, planograms, vendor programs, location specific space considerations and promotional events.Expedites all open orders. Updates due dates and other relevant information in the JD Edwards system to ensure all related order specifications are accurate when other departments access the system for information. Works with vendors to maintain consistent lead times and complete shipments.Identifies and makes recommendations for action on all slow turning and obsolete merchandise in assigned categories.Works with assigned merchandising team members to manage inventory levels to fulfill vendor programs, seasonal plans and planograms.Works with distribution and traffic department personnel to improve overall efficiency and effectiveness of the supply chain.What you will bring to the table:Bachelor's degree or equivalent in merchandising or related field.1-3 years of related purchasing/inventory management experience.Knowledge of hardline tools and equipment.Strong organizational skills are required.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.Solid PC skills, spreadsheet development abilities and working knowledge of designated software packages.E3 experience with silver level certification or greater.Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide variety of company and vendor personnel.Demonstrates Northern Tool + Equipment's 12 Core Competencies.About UsNorthern Tool + Equipment is a family business with roots stretching back three generations to Minnesota's Iron Range, where our blue-collar work ethic and commitment to serving the people who do the tough jobs was born.
