Company Description: Lawndale Christian Development Corporation (LCDC) is a community development corporation that weaves together community planning, organizing, and asset-building efforts with high-quality affordable housing and commercial development to create vibrant neighborhoods and empowered residents. LCDC is seeking a visionary, mission-oriented and seasoned leader who will serve as the Director of Operations and assist LCDC move into its next phase of measured growth and stability. Lawndale Christian Development Corporation was established in 1987 by Lawndale Christian Community Church to bring holistic revitalization to the lives and environments of Lawndale residents through economic empowerment, housing improvements, educational enrichments and community advocacy. The LCDC vision is to be a developer and manager of community-enhancing residential and commercial properties, a partner for educational excellence, and a catalyst for community revitalization in the North Lawndale community. Since our inception, LCDC has completed $100 million in residential and commercial development which accounts for over 489 units all in the North Lawndale community. We currently manage 123 units of affordable housing.Position Overview: Reporting to the Deputy Director, the Community Economic Development Coordinator will direct all community outreach, including our organizing, communications, event planning, community relations, and development operations. Additionally, the CEDC will focus on strategic planning and project management to ensure an innovative and wholistic approach to economic development. The Director works with community partners to advance LCDC's organizing, cooperative development, and community relations goals. Additionally, they will work with the Executive Team in the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospects and donors for program areas.Immediate objectives for this role include strengthening LCDC Co-op's communication strategy, building partnerships with local stakeholders and foundation partners; refine and execute a community organizing and recruitment campaign; complete compliance and reporting for area specific funding sources. This is a wonderful opportunity for a highly skilled and hands-on professional who wants to join an experienced team committed to working together to improve outcomes for families living in North Lawndale as we work to aid them in building generational wealth.•Shepherd projects from conception through iteration, testing, development, and execution•Conduct 5 relational meetings per week with residents, entrepreneurs, and program participants. •Network with appropriate local organizations to gain momentum for organizing initiatives.•Serve as "engagement manager" for such projects, leading and facilitating cross-departmental working groups and, on occasion, external individuals/partners/vendors•Create and manage associated tools, frameworks, and documents in order to move each initiative forward as efficiently as possible•Co-Lead strategic planning for new initiative development and execution•Work closely with the Executive Team to continuously evaluate the entire portfolio of new initiatives, determine optimal resource allocation (budget, people, and time, tools, etc.), and manage project lifecycles (e.g. milestones and points of ownership transition from new initiatives team to functional team(s))•Lead the creation, maintenance, and organization of critical business documents (PowerPoint decks, Excel models, Word docs) to enable decision-making, evaluation, and executive reporting (including Board-related) associated with new initiatives•Strategic framing and storytelling•Program impact metrics and tracking•Donor/funder engagement and reportingEducation, Experience, Skills And Physical Requirements:•3 - 5 years nonprofit experience with a focus on community engagement, cooperative development or the like•Established success in organizing community leaders and achievement of strategic goals;•Schedule flexibility is highly desirable as position at times requires working evenings and weekends•Capacity to implement best practices relationship management•Good public speaking skills needed•Exceptional organizational, written and verbal communication skills are necessary;•Must be able to set priorities, multi-task and meet deadlines;•Takes initiative to innovate and resolve procedural errors before they become larger issues•Approaches obstacles analytically, with integrity, and creativity•Can work independently and on a team;•The ability to adapt quickly to changing environments;•Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.•Able to perform essential functions of job; reasonable accommodation available;•Proficient in Microsoft Office and cloud-based computer information systems;•Able to perform in an office setting and outdoors (heat, humidity, rain, and cold)Job Type: Full-timeBenefits:401KPTO Paid Sick Time OffEmployee Paid - Medical, Vision and Dental InsuranceSchedule:8 hour shiftMonday to FridayWork Location: In personTo ensure a high standard of professionalism and safety, all candidates must provide two professional references and pass a background check.
